@PrincetonPls Haha my level of interaction on CC is unhealthy…I have the CC app on my phone and I check it during brunch/lunch/free periods during school. And whenever I’m doing my homework I have CC open in another tab. Although I use it to procrastinate, I still feel like it’s more productive than Facebook, which I try to stay away from.

@lb43823 I have my stats somewhere earlier on the thread…sorry I’m too lazy to repost!

I started using this website like 2 days ago and it’s like crack. I keep getting so intrigued by the fact that there’s a chance - slim, but a chance nonetheless - that people we’re conversing with online right now could potentially be our classmates/friends/something more???

An EA applicant has a huge advantage over a RD applicant. If you take into account all the possible routes of acceptance (EA accept, EA defer-RD accept, & EA defer-RD wait list-accept), and calculate using conditional probabilities, our chance of making it to Princeton is nearly 23%.

@PrincetonPls I am telling you this a self-selecting community. To illustrate, I am from LI, go to a small not-good public high school, but am surrounded by traditional big names that send several kids to Ivies every year. We send about 1-2 every year (and usually to Cornell). However, I was conversing with a guy, and he turned out be a student at a nearby school (sends several to Ivies), plus, he knew some of my close friends there, so its a small world after all :D

@Ambitious19 I see…you don’t care Nah I am just kidding, I found your thread your major is so unique and what you did is just unique, I think you are in (IMHO).

On an unrelated note, do any of you guys know what Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is?

@Ambitious19 I actually did SIMR myself! I know the people from MV you’re talking about, hahahahaha. Good times. Pretty sure they all applied to Stanford though :p

@lb43823 I’ve applied to state safety and Stanford already. If I get in to Princeton, just Harvard and Cornell RD. If not, CMU, Harvey Mudd, Rice, Wellesley on top of those. As for stats, I did a pretty detailed chance thread not too long ago when I thought those were still good ideas, you can find it on my profile :P

@Ambitious19 No, I go to a school close to MV (but what an infamous school lol). I had a couple friends not in the program who were at Stanford for the summer so I probably knew a few of your friends. Or maybe have seen them.

@alfawarlord WHAT HI DO I KNOW YOU??? Lol. I’m trying to figure out who you are but I don’t think we met at SIMR.

I literally have no idea what any of these programs are. All I’ve done over the summers are work my minimum wage job at a food place and plan the extracurriculars I head at school. Does it matter much though? I mean, having achievement at a local level isn’t automatically less important is it?

@PrincetonPls As long as what you’re committed to what you do, adcoms can’t honestly fault you for the level of your extracurriculars/work. (at least, that’s what I’m counting on…)

If accepted, I think I’ve decided I’m going to go. I was originally going to apply to Yale and Columbia (already sent Harvard for RD) but getting into Princeton is no joke, plus it’s not like you can go wrong by choosing Princeton. Only thing holding me back was the fact that I have not been on campus. If any of you have, could you please describe why you enjoyed it?

Disclaimer: I visited during the summer when no students were there. But I absolutely loved the environment. Castles everywhere, man. And different types of architecture. I remember every few minutes as we were walking the architecture would change to a different style and era. It was all absolutely beautiful. Lots of green and trees. I found Stanford very dull and uninteresting by comparison.

I also loved the town. It’s very small and, I suppose, neat? Some people love big cities, but I have to admit the quiet beautiful atmosphere of Princeton was what drove me to the University and the reason I’m not as excited about applying to schools in New York and other large cities. So IMO if you appreciate small, quiet and pretty, Princeton is for you.

I’ve been lucky enough to have lived only 10 minutes away from campus my whole life, and can say that nothing can beat Princeton. First off, the campus’ architecture is the perfect balance between modern and gothic style. Year round you get the prestigious university look from both the architecture and ivy, which never fails to amaze even after seeing it for over 17 years. To put it into perspective, take Hogwarts and put it in modern setting. That’s about the magnitude of the beauty of the campus. As for the spread of the campus, Princeton is both centralized and fairly spread out over several blocks in downtown Princeton, so you never feel restricted or too separated. From what I’ve gathered from my weekly visits to Princeton (yes I go that often), a lot of the college life occurs on Nassau Street and Palmer Square. These areas of downtown Princeton are where all the clothing stores and eateries are. It’s pretty atypical for a college town simply because everything is so expensive around town except Small World Coffee (highly suggest this cafe if you ever visit) where all the university students spend their time. In general the college experience at Princeton really felt like it extended beyond campus boundaries, which is pretty hard to find elsewhere. Also Google pictures of the streets I mentioned, I’m sure they’d convince you to go to Princeton.

@otter101 I go to a public school in Palo Alto! Assuming you live near close to MV, does that mean you go to schools like Lynbrook or Saratoga?

Hey guys, it wasn’t really anything…just a notice that they had received my parents’ tax returns and will be adding to to my file. I brought it up because I had sent them a long time ago but they suddenly emailed me back hm… I’m really sure it means NOTHING sorry to worry you guys. We’re all too paranoid haha! @mmj133 I think it might help a bit, but only if your engineering essay is good. I personally decided to apply for a hard science in the AB program and not the BSE just because I also have great interests in the liberal arts and want more breadth in my studies at Princeton. I’m also not completely sure that I want to study the applied sciences as opposed to the more theoretical/research side. I think that choosing the right major and program for the interests you have shown in school is the best bet for admission.

Cold Spring harbor Laboratory is a molecular Biology research lab in North east. They have excellent research going on and some student programs are also available but I didn’t apply because I was already working with a mentor. Watson from Watson and Crick works there. Someone told me that everyone who goes there gets his autograph and he is somewhat of a celebrity there!

Princeton says need blind but does anyone know how true that statement is? From the common App they can find out that you are applying for financial aid and so will that affect their decision, at least slightly, especially if it is a toss up.
