Princeton INterview

I would limit it to one text message if all possible. Something like what midatlmom said would be just fine. Say thanks, I enjoyed learning about Princeton, or something similar.

160 characters (with space) in one text message.

Thank you for your advice, everyone!
I managed to type in a message within the limit and I will text him tomorrow. I hope he won't mind that I waited for 4 days before doing this. :)

I want to bump my question about how soon should I contact Princeton (if at all) about an interview? I submitted my app a while ago and I'm pretty sure they have alumni in my area.

I just got an email today.. I am gonna be having my interview right across the world!!! India to Washington DC... :)

Got call for interview 1/24. Funny thing it's at same firm, different person, that UChicago interview. Wonder how that'll play (was accepted EA at Chicago).

Mine was today, at starbucks, and it was ah-mazing!

Pretty much laid back, not a pressure cooker at all.

My interviewer was fun, and he seemed to like me. He's a doctor, and I want to go into pre-med, so that worked out nicely. Told me a lot about opportunities at Princeton and was very knowledgeable. Told him all about my service work and gave him a copy of my music supplement. I brought my music resume and a copy of semester 1 grades just to show what I was up to.

My interview lasted 70 minutes. The guy wrote a lot down, and seemed as if he didn't interview much. He did not remember what to ask me, so I began talking about my extra-curriculars. He said he did not think that the interviews mattered much, but if it was up to him they would be more important. We did not talk much about Princeton, but more about what he thinks is important when choosing a college.

Um ok, so my interview lasted about 40 mins, and my interviewer seemed kind of uninterested. Seriously, if I didnt ask him all these questions about princeton (about half of which he didnt even know the answer to) it would have been over in half the time. He didnt ask me anything about me except what I wanted to do and why...then he ended the interview by saying that he liked me but interviews dont matter much and then said he forgot to tell me that I am, or rather was "at full liberty to decline the interview, they really dont care about it". W t f ? Is this going to screw up my chances :/

Had a good interview just the other day. It was his very first interview, after having been contacted a few months ago or so. Lasted about 1 and half hours, there were no 'standard' questions asked, apart from "how did you find out about Princeton?". I brought nothing to the interview too – I asked beforehand and he told me that nothing was needed. Really casual, we were interested in very similar things, so a good connection would have been made.

We talked a lot about Princeton, lots of stuff I'd never even heard of (which was great) and a fair amount about my interests. Little academics: he said that the admissions office would have my grades and all anyway, so he was looking at my personality.

First time I'd ever been in Starbucks too - wandering up and down the street as if I was lost just trying to find it!

My Pton interviewer was definitely not Pton aware. I do not want
to go into any details other than to say the person who was supposedly
a somewhat recent alumni was drawing major blanks on key princeton
faculty/dorms/activites just about everything. It was either a case of
severe Alzheimers or something else....

** Is there a way of verifying someone is actually an alumni easily? **

It would be hard to imagine the person who interviewed me as
having an undergraduate degree from Pton. I got the distinct
feeling the person was filling in for somebody else and doing quite
a bad job of it.

(No, they were not wearing a badge and definitely knew far less than
me about Princeton ---and I do not know much at all)

Uh, I submitted my app on 12/30. Will I get an interview? I'm sure there are interviewers around here. I live by one of the largest cities in the US.

I just received an email from an interview coordinator for my area today! I am so excited! It is going to be my first college interview, so I suppose I will be extremely nervous. Any advice on how to keep calm and focused?

It is going to be over the phone, because I live abroad. When my sister found this out, she asked me how they will be able to know for sure it's me the person whose name appears on the application. I have never before thought about it.

Good point... I haven't thought about it either.
But then again, when you show up for an interview face-to-face, how can they be sure you're the one whose name appeared on application, too? (but yeah, phone makes it even harder to know!)

I haven't been contacted yet, and I know it takes a while, but when should I start worrying that something slipped through?

Like when's the latest anyone's been contacted?

I'm having mine on Feb 22nd. I called the president of our local Princeton Club and he said all interviews must be in by March 10th. Doesn't that date seem a little late???

that's weird, my interview says the deadline to turn in interviews this year is Feb. 15th.... I'm having mine today after school

Huh. that's weird. maybe it's different for each region then.

my interviewer said write-ups were due by the end of feb.

I received an email asking me if I want to have an interview from a aol account... is that normal? How do I know it is for real?

A friend of mine had a microphone interview on skype for Brown.
