This should have been interesting.

I'm having both my Princeton and Brown interviews by phone.

Angelutza could you tell me more about your friend who applied to Brown? I mean, what did the interviewer want from him? :D

Interview today

Just had it yesterday. Lasted almost 2 hours. Interviewer was a really chill dude.

Ada, I haven't talked to her lately. When I do, I will ask that for you. Anyway, she is plusqueparfaite on this forum if you want to look at her posts.

Just had mine; my interview was pretty young (35?) and very chill. I thought it went much better than my other interviews!

Swoot! I just got an email interview request! Yay!

I haven't posted in the Princeton section yet, but I figured I would now...my interviewer was great! It was obvious he had been interviewing for a long time now, since he knew how to keep the conversation going. He showed me the writeup he had to do, and asked me if there was anything in particular that I wanted him to mention.

Basically, just wanted to share that my Princeton interviewer was nice, and really made me want to go there. Good luck to everyone else! Out of the 4 interviews I've had, this definitely ranked high up.

I just had my interview on Sunday. My interviewer seemed nice enough...he didn't let me talk very much though. I can talk a lot--about anything, and he kept stopping me, but politely, and discussed how what I had just said applied to Princeton. He also kept asking me about the other schools I applied to and then proceeded to try and persuade me why Princeton is better. He also said he would take me out to dinner if I got into Princeton and convince me why I should go! I liked my interviewer and my interview overall, but I thought I would talk more than I did.

My interview is on Thursday. The interviewer contacted my guidance counselor, rather than me, and scheduled the interview to be at my school, during the school day... is that odd?

I had my interview last Friday and it went verrry well.. my interviewer is pursuing a career in the same field as I want to and we had lots to talk about :D All the best to everyone else too :D

I have yet to even be contacted...needless to say I am a bit anxious.

Don't be: my brother just got contacted today while I had mine about two weeks ago and was contacted two months ago, even though we submitted at the same time.

I was wondering, however...This will be the second time I've applied, and I had an interview last year. Will they interview me again this year, or will they reuse the write-up from last year?

i'm pleased to announce that my interview went really well! teh interviewer was the athletic director of a rival high school, and he already had seen me play in field hockey and heard a bit about me. by the end he said that if it were up to him, i'd already be in. if only the interviews held more weight...

would it be stupid to decline interview if i'm not feel comfortable at speaking?
i'm not sure if my interview would enhance my application...lol

Hey i just had an interview request, an applicant from Australia but I'm trying to get the interview moved to another country where I am. How does the interview figure in the process? Is it a good indication and possibly decisive? Or is it largely superficial? I'm figuring not to wear dress pants as i rarely wear those and not to prepare as I don't memorize very efficiently.

The interview can only help you. Admissions officers are looking for reasons to accept you, not reject you. Besides, it's more informational and casual than it is serious. Definitely take up the offer.

"How does the interview figure in the process? Is it a good indication and possibly decisive? Or is it largely superficial?"

It plays very small role in the process. It will give you an advantage if you are already a strong candidate. It is NOT decisive, nor is it essential.

"I'm figuring not to wear dress pants as i rarely wear those and not to prepare as I don't memorize very efficiently."

You decide how you want to present yourself. To "be yourself" is the best advice anyone can give. Princeton people are very friendly.

LOL IM GLAD THEY DON'T HAVE AS MUCH WEIGHT!

because unfortunately, I didn't have such a good interview.. I hate to compare, but my Harvard & Penn interviews were much much stronger. My interviewer is a recent alumn and wasn't very enthusiastic. she was more like "whatever. princeton. Hoorah." I asked her how her experience was and she gave a mediocore, monotone "Great." I was comfortable and everything, my part was fine, she just didn't give me much to go off of because she was so disconnected. And when I asked her about to give her perspective on college life @ princeton and dormlife.. she starts talkin about the parties and goes "yeah, and there's like beer and stuff, so yeah." I was thinkin "what the hell.. i'm seventeen lol, you're not supposed to persuade me to go by telling me there's beer" hahahaha.

Oh, and I was dressed in black pants, black dress shoes, and a button-up shirt.. she was in jeans & sneakers and a hoodie. Hair was tassled. She just wasn't really into it I guess... or else wanted to make me more comfortable by being really informal.

She was probably a quintuple legacy.

I just got emailed for an interview. It was a Princeton alum's secretary and I searched up his office and its 45 minutes away. I'm not a strong interviewee so I feel like the interview wouldn't help me. Is it worth it to accept the interview and spend a whole night driving back and forth just for an informational? (There's nothing to add to my application. Unfortunately, I'm not extremely witty or likeable when it comes to interviews.) I was thinking either I'll accept or act like I never got the interview. Anyway, I almost deleted it before I realized it was from Princeton.
