I have my interview in about half an hour and I just realized that I didn't prepare for the "why Princeton" question, which may come up. I'll report back later this evening as to whether that was a bad idea, a really bad idea, or fine.

Oh, good luck. Hopefully you already know enough about why you want to go to Princeton to be able to field any such questions.

For my part, I just scheduled a Princeton interview for Sunday. The problem is, my mom told me she was from Stanford when I picked up the phone, so that was hilariously awkward when I asked if she was from Stanford and she replied she was from Princeton… >.> Hopefully that’s not an indication of how my own interview will go.

^^These things happen! I have my interview for Princeton on Sunday as well! It’s my first alumni interview - we’ll see how it goes!

Hello again,

So he did ask me “why Princeton”, that and “what have you been reading”. When I answered with comments on the liberal arts curriculum, he was unsatisfied and pointed out that tons of American schools have that. So I elaborated on the undergraduate focus and the small school community. He was a young guy, relaxed, informal, and we just talked about … stuff. I don’t think I made much of an impression on him - I don’t remember saying anything spectacularly impressive. Nonetheless, I thought he liked me because after the interview he offered to show me around the Club (we met here instead of a coffee shop: [The University Club of Toronto > About Us](http://www.universitycluboftoronto.com/)), which I thought was a nice gesture.

Our conversation was natural. I made him laugh a few times, and I asked questions about Princeton and he looked at me thoughtfully each time. It was nice. Not fantastic. Just nice.

I asked him how I did after the interview and he laughed and was like “you did fine”. Then he said that he knows one of the admissions officer personally, and that at the admissions office they don’t really care about interviews.

So yeah. Best of luck, CC.

What questions about Princeton did you ask? :)

are the interviews formal?
or just casual?
I have mine tmrw :)

@ MrSudden: I asked what he liked most about Princeton, why he applied to Princeton and chose it, whether the student body truly mixed
@ teknos: I think it depends on your interviewer. Good luck!

I have mine next week…soon after my SAT ii tests, lol. Thank you for sharing the info ,sehnsuchtting! Best of the luck to you and the rest of us! I did a creepy thing…an googled my interviewer…turned out quite interesting …but different from my interview with U Chicago, this intrviewer has a academic concentration on science, yet the Chicago one majored in the same field of my interest…idk if it’ll mean anything, just hope things go well.^^
