I have a phone interview with a Princeton alumni tomorrow. Any advice? Can anyone share their experience?

Calm, Collected, Think About Why You Want An Education, Why Princeton is Good for You. Why Princeton Should Choose You, Discuss Your Interests, Career Goals, and Passions. Relax, it'll be fine.

I had an interview over the phone too.. My interviewer, was pursuing a career that is based on the major I want to take up. So basically we talked about my experiences, why I wanted to go to Princeton and why I was interested in taking up that particular major.. And then about my other interests, what I do for fun etc.. It was really nice :) So dont worry, stay calm and just be yourself!!

Be calm, answer the questions truthfully, enjoy yourself. :)

Just remember that the collective sum of your entire life so far is riding on that one moment, and you'll do fine.

hey i have a phone interview tomorrow too :( scaaaaared

Dont be scared!! Just be yourself!!!!

I had a phone interview with Princeton (somewhat unexpectedly, too), and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My interviewer told me to talk about myself as if she were writing an article about me, and basically left a lot up to me, peppering in questions here and there.

Just be yourself...don't try to be pretentious, and try to convey your sense of energy for what you do and why you love to do it.

Good luck! I got in last year after having a phone interview, so hope is not lost!

Is it normal to receive an interview request in March?

i had my interview march 4 but i was contacted to schedule it in mid-febuary.

it is probably a little bit late now, i heard the reports were due at beginning of march

I just had my phone interview today (and I was contacted about it yesterday).

I will advise you that phone interviews are trouble.
I have had 5 interviews. 4 were in person and between 90 and 120 minutes. My phone interview for Princeton was 20 minutes. Don't worry too much though, because interviews are not as important as one may think....really alumni relations and a way to keep their school on top of selectivity.

Maybe it's because I was overseas so the phone interview was more of a necessity than an option, but my Princeton phone interview probably lasted about 80 minutes.

It was also very non-stressful. I talked about what I enjoyed doing, and he talked about opportunities to explore similar things on campus and programs that I might be interested in. I'm not really sure if it weighed substantially on me getting into Princeton, but it certainly weighed heavily on me deciding to attend once I was accepted.

had one yesterday, went awesome! overseas, 50 minutes! I now love princeton more than any other uni! I mean, seriously! Such a practical approach...they didn't discuss anything that was already on the application....other uni interviews actually discussed my SAT scores!

I had a phone interview today, and I think it went pretty well. The lady who was interviewing me was really nice, and she just asked me about my school and my classes and what I do outside of school, what I'm interested in, etc. My sly trick with alumni interviews is to ask them over email what to expect in the interview.... and they generally give you a pretty good idea. Mine was about 40 minutes long, I think.

I am having one this weekend. I would think that a phone interview is much easier than a normal one as you can have notes in front of you to make yourself feel less nervous?

I personally like normal interviews. My phone interview was Princeton, I was shaking the whole time, and i was unsure if i was talking too little or w/e. My previous personal interviews were nothing short of a delight with a lot of reciprocal conversation. The notes help a little but not too much.

i'm having mine tomorrow morning, before school at chick-fil-a. called tonight... man! not much time to think about it.

Went pretty good. My interviewer was really nice, but I got the feeling he spent more of his time at princeton playing sports and partying than hitting the books, hahaha. I was really prepared for it just by reading this thread and one other (thanks guys). He said he'd write me a really good reccomendation... hope that helps!

Had a nice 100min interview. I think I talked too much :D
