Princeton Review's top party school this year -- U Georgia

(CNN) -- The University of Georgia has partied its way to No. 1 on the top party schools list. It also came in second in the subcategory of lots of hard liquor.

The party school honor was bestowed by The Princeton Review based on survey questions about alcohol, drugs, how many hours students studied and how popular the fraternities and sororities were at the school....

Here are the top 10 party schools:
1. University of Georgia -- Athens, Georgia
2. Ohio University -- Athens, Ohio
3. Pennsylvania State University -- University Park, Pennsylvania
4. West Virginia University -- Morgantown, West Virginia
5. University of Mississippi -- Oxford, Mississippi
6. University of Texas -- Austin, Texas
7. University of Florida -- Gainesville, Florida
8. University of California -- Santa Barbara, California
9. University of Iowa -- Iowa City
10. DePauw University -- Greencastle, Indiana

UGA bulldogs its way to top of party schools list - CNN.com

i was going to go there if i didn’t get into UNC…hahah, love my life.

What happened to CSU Chico? This is a major disappointment that it no longer dominates in this arena of late. It has definitely gone by way of the dogs!

I am suprised to see DePauw, and suprised not to see UW- Madison.

Interesting. There are a lot of schools that I feel like are more deserving of being on the list than some of the ones mentioned.

its not necessarily a good thing

Its not necessarilu a bad thing either, many school’s on the list are among the nations best. Specifically look at The University of Iowa, world known of it’s education. I have read other sites as well and as expected many take a different perspective of ranking a school party scene. Many achools have taken onto the motto a"play hard study hard", typically meaning highly educated but still full of life.

I was curious so I went and dug up the rest of this year’s list; now here are some of the other schools I was expecting.

11 Florida State University

12 University of Wisconsin - Madison

13 University of Alabama

14 Sewanee - The University of the South

15 Indiana University - Bloomington

16 University of Colorado - Boulder

17 University of Missouri

18 University of Illinois

19 University of Maryland

20 Michigan State University

I was wondering where University of Alabama was. Theeeere it is.
Hah. I almost went to UGA. I think it’s still a pretty good school though.
And Sewanee is #14? I’m surprised it’s in the top 20…

UGA is still an excellent school.

Let’s GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Mounatineers!

4 - But still going strong.

Where is ASU? That place is epic.

DePauw? Really?

Of course, knowing the Princeton Review’s loose methodology, this could have been from a survey in which 1 out of 1 students believed that DePauw is a big party school. On the other hand, the list looks pretty accurate otherwise.

I wonder if people in places called Athens just like to party. Anyone here from Greece?

My school has made the past three Playboy rankings and has yet to make the Princeton Review one. And I KNOW we party more than DePauw. Maybe we should make a new MTV reality show to determine the biggest party school?? Not saying it’d be good but it could make a quick buck.

Please elaborate.

I love the party schools — they are both rigorous and fun!

I can see the spike in alcohol-related deaths now… But hey, why not? Think of it as cleaning out the gene pool. :D

Wow! I never would have guessed that there was so much partying in Iowa!

How about the Iowa Writers’ Workshop? Moreover, in academic accounting, Iowa is known to have produced many, many top researchers.

Our local Uni issues a press release each year when the Princeton Review comes out bragging that it wasn’t listed as a top party school (it has had a reputation as a slacker, party school.) Of course, no one around here realizes that you have to first make it into the Princeton Review to even be considered for the top party school list!
