I think it’s unlikely that “everyone who posts on CC got in SCEA because they got this FA email”. HOWEVER, I think it is very likely that “everyone who posts on CC is at least in the running (went to committee) … and we know based on the FA email”. A counter example would be a person who didn’t send in the forms, wasn’t asked for them and then is admitted - OR a person who didn’t send in the forms, was asked for them, and magically we knew was not sent to committee (but we will never know this).
I’m just curious but did everyone who received this email actually not send in the tax return forms? I was wondering why you guys didn’t?
Eh, my mom sent in the tax forms beforehand along with our FA App but I still got the email anyway.
@azwu331 Do legacies tend to get deferred early even if they are qualified?
@aznstate98 Oh really? hm… now I’m getting worried lol Are you planning to resend it or email them about it?
@lolacell - As I recall when filling them out (and another mom said this too) - they asked for 2015 forms when available, estimated otherwise. I honestly do not remember being asked for 2014 tax forms, let alone W2s. (And LOL re the fiction of the student doing this him/herself.) Someone said that another place on the website said please send in the 2014 forms, but I only used the direct PFAA and Profile sites and did not see this directive.
Will Princeton tell us when they’ve received our tax forms through e-mail?
@memelover - we sent them yesterday or the day before and did not yet hear back…
@azwu331 That was junior year, second semester. That’s why I want to send my first quarter grades so they see that it was an anomaly.
@fretfulmother Ah I saw it on the Princeton website that until you get the 2015 tax return forms you should send in the 2014 tax return forms. When the 2015 tax return forms are available, you should also send those in! Maybe not everyone saw that posted on the website and did not send in 2014 ones because they were waiting for 2015 ones…? (This is what I am guessing).
@fretfulmother i agree; i didn’t see anything that told me i had to send in 2014 tax forms or W2s. i feel like if i had seen that those were required for completion of the financial aid application, i would have sent them in. i do remember, however, reading that we need to send in our 2015 forms as soon as they’re available.
regardless, my dad said he sent the 2014 stuff in today.
@lolacell We already refax and reemailed them the tax forms
@beemane No, legacies have an advantange during the SCEA round if they are qualified.
- Send a copy of your parents' 2015 tax return and W-2 statement
Once you submit the PFAA, you’ll receive an acknowledging e-mail that includes a six digit Application Number. Write this number on your parents’ tax documents and e-mail, fax or mail them directly to our office. If you are an early action applicant, or a regular decision applicant whose parents have not yet filed their 2015 tax forms, please send the 2014 tax documents. These will suffice until the 2015 tax return is available.
This is from Princeton University’s Financial Aid website.
@meaa7130 Don’t worry! A single B won’t kill your application. You’re well-qualified in every other area so I wouldn’t stress a lower-than-average grade in a difficult class.
@lolacell @eyesight2020 - OK that makes sense! But rats, I did not write that number on the forms (which were in any case .pdf’s generated by other software so not sure how I could…) My DS attached the forms to a return email in response to the request email, so hopefully that is good enough?
ETA: maybe this is the first Princeton-readiness assessment. If so, I’m sorry in advance to my DS.
the FA email from yesterday didn’t say anything about adding CID numbers, or any other kind of numbers, to the tax forms.
@fretfulmother I’m sure it will be okay!
@azwu331 So if a legacy is deferred, it is likely a nice gesture of the university?
@azwu331 Well your essays sound absolutely spectacular. I am crossing all my fingers and toes that you get in. If anyone deserves it, you do!
