@azwu331 I guess I didn’t understand your true meaning. You feared that you would be “the @ambitious19 of the 2020 SCEA thread: an overqualified candidate…”. You feared you would be an overqualified candidate who got deferred. Whatever. Best of luck to you!
does anyone here want to start a rap battle…im gonna start spitting bars:
my bars are dope
they’re like my secret weapons
i applied to the class of 2020
princeton better give me an acceptance
BAR$$$$$$$
do you guys think we check our application portal for our admission results when they come out
Are you guys planning on applying to places RD if you get accepted to Princeton? Personally, I think I might send an app to Stanford, but that’s it. Princeton is the dream. [-O<
i spit straight fire
i hope princeton adcoms can admire
and penn might think they’re cool with all their comments
but compared to p’ton applicants it’s not even a contest
if penn applicants see this, we challenge you to a rap battle
Princeton please accept me,
I’m the best applicant you’ve ever heard.
I’ll be an amazing student,
You have my word.
I have great ECs,
So I promise I’m not a nerd.
I’ll help you guys win things,
Like you’re the Celtics and I’m Larry Bird.
Princeton please accept me,
don’t get me deferred
@ALibertarian if it’s not a financial burden to you, I would start sending in your applications now instead of waiting. For some places, such as Harvard, they actually recommend that you send in your application “before December 10th” so that they can start reviewing it. It can only help you by getting you app in earlier (i doubt it’ll make a huge difference if you’re unqualified, but I assume that this isn’t the case for you, so it couldn’t hurt!)
My son’s already sent in his RD applications to Yale, Harvard, and Rutgers. He’s waiting until after the Princeton notice to send in more.
Haven’t ever posted on this, but I’m applying B.A and planning on studying molecular biology! I have a 4.56 weighted 3.98 unweighted(the one B is haunting me), and good ACT(34) but kinda ‘eh’ SAT II scores(760 bio m,720 chem,700 math II). I’ve taken a very tough course load including 5 APs this year and am doing well, and also I think my essays are pretty solid and hopefully my recs are good, so we’ll see! Good luck to you all with Princeton as well as everywhere else!!!
In committee my app will be a fighter
To make me look like the perfect tiger.
I wear orange and black
Everyday in track
If me you defer
I will prefer
To take me in regular decision
Cuz thats what I envision
I hope I get in
For if I do I would say thats a win.
Who else is drowning in the sea of IB workload (oh the endless EE and IAs…) but still managing to procrastinate in CC
@AcrobatX No problem! Maybe my sentence wasn’t too clear, but honestly I don’t have time to grammar check every single one of my posts (especially that really long one).
@arcane25 Harvard’s request for early submissions by Dec 10 is self-serving. They want to spread the workload wider – but has no bearing on eventual decisions. One of the best reasons to apply to PTon (or anywhere ED/EA) is to obviate the need to send other apps.
If accepted I’d probably still apply to Cornell and MIT, maybe uChicago since they waive the fee. Not sure, but I might cut Harvard and CMU since Princeton is preferable to both… But I might send anyway.
@CautiousOptimist - UChicago waives the fee? Or was that a special offer you got?
@fretfulmother They waived the fee for me too. So I think its a universal thing.
@meaa7130 - how did you find out? Thank you!!
@fretfulmother UChicago has a policy where they waive the fee for anyone who applies for need based financial aid. It’s a way for them to raise application numbers (and subsequently lower their acceptance rate to compete with HYPSM), but it’s really generous. More information about this fee waiver can be found on their website here: https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/apply/applicants/firstyear#application-fee-waiver
@azwu331 - thank you!! This is very valuable for me to know. My nieces are interested in U-Ch, though I don’t think it would be a great match for my own DS.
Does anybody have tips for studying a harder than usual course load? This year is hell compared to last year (I’m doing more A-Levels senior year, some say that one A-Level is equivalent to 3 AP’s, others say it’s the other way around) and my concentration levels are surprisingly low. College applications took a lot of my energy and time at the start of the year (I’m glad I’m over that hurdle) but I don’t feel like I’m pushing myself hard enough now that I have more time on my hand. Senior year is supposed to be the final stretch but all I want to do is feed my homework to my dog and, dare I say it, slack.
Now that we all got our apps in, I think it would be a good idea to push each other academically. Maybe we could have everyone post their progress for the day (in terms of EC’s even, pursuing a hobby, or working out); anything that makes us extra productive.
@azwu331 any ideas? We could even start a new thread :))
