@meaa7130 we lowkey have the same exact stats… twins!! I only submitted my SAT score though, because all the sections were more consistent
@arcane25 Did people in your near by county got an interview? Nearby as in right beside your county. Because some of the people who got interviewed only live like 20 minutes drive from her.
How big is a county - like smaller than Manhattan?
@seniorciti I’m from California! What state are you from?
Also, to add to the conversation above, where I’m from the ACT and SAT are about equally popular and many people take both.
@Desiree2 our county has about 20-30 applicants to Princeton. Keep in mind it’s NJ, so basically everyone’s dream school is either Penn or Princeton (which adds to the rivalry between the two!). A county for reference is about 600 square miles, so there’s about 10 big high schools in our county, and idk how many “charter” type schools there are, but its quite a significant chunk. Which is odd that none of us got interviews, because typically Princeton accepts 1-2 from each of the Big Big high schools like Atlantic City High School. So its about a half hour, 40 minute drive I’d say.
@Desiree2 So a county is bigger in size than manhattan, but most probably have a smaller population
My hub is from NJ & only took the SAT. I’m not & took both. Our son has just one shot at testing & took the ACT w/writing this Sept, 3 SAT IIs in Oct, & the SAT in Dec. (We explained why in his school report.) Our generation didn’t have SAT IIs & every adult our age or older is like, “What are those?”
We found it interesting that ACT scores aren’t reported as well. We’re hoping it’s a good thing.
@ptonpwr There are 2 others that posted to this thread that they weren’t asked for additional tax info from the financial aid office. One is an international student.
I’m sorry, I forget your name - the person who didn’t fill out Princeton’s financial aid forms. It doesn’t affect your chances of getting in. It just means that if you do, there won’t be financial aid award info (if you qualify) in your "Congratulations! notice & packet.
@Desiree2 There were a couple of people, both international & not, who didn’t get interviewed even though they knew people from the same area that did. Even though admissions says it doesn’t matter, people here have been collecting data & are waiting to see if it corollates with acceptance rates for folks on this thread. They’ve also looked into past years.
@emtfxc Thats so cool! I submitted both since they were fairly even. It couldn’t hurt! (Although it was an extra 12 bucks :P)
@arcane25 How long does it take to drive to Pton from your county? I have known people who drove for two hours in Canada for their interview since you know Canada is pretty big and sparsely populated.
@meaa7130 Are you Mia Chan?
@Desiree2 They don’t have interviews on campus, but just for reference princeton is about 2 hours away from where I live by car.
Where I’m from, in the Midwest, pretty much everyone takes the ACT. And I hear kids complain all the time about how much harder the SAT is than the ACT for some reason.
@arcane25 Is this the case over all past years? Or just this year where your county had no interview.\
@arcane25 If you get in, are you going to drive to Princeton & get merch? We are even though 2 people posted that they send you a T-shirt.
Our son did get interviewed, but we have no clue if anyone else from our area did. My son’s friends (some close by & some an hour from us) - none of them applied nor know someone who did.
@Desiree2 Nah that’s not me
We are from MD. Son and his classmate who applied were both called for interviews within minutes (it seemed) of submitting their applications. Hard to imagine a correlation between the interview and admittance only because there wasnt enough time to “open the envelopes” (figuratively speaking, of course).
I second @saidandleft2020 's question
@FarscapeFan I mean you can get anything you really need at fanatics.com, so I’m not gonna drive up just to get a T-shirt lol. But I’d go up to just see the school again as an actual pre-frosh versus an applicant! But that’s jumping the gun a lil bit IMO (the visit, not the merch! Buy until your heart’s content lol)
Ooh, I don’t think I’ve heard of that site. Found others, but not that one. Thanks. My hub’s coworkers are expecting him to show up the next day in a polo shirt or tie. Son wants a shirt and hat to wear to his weekend activities. And I want a shirt too. We don’t want to wait for the mail. LOL!
@FarscapeFan Plus they totally do send you a T-shirt! My friend from last year got in Regular Decision and they sent her her T-shirt right after she accepted her decision. So you wont get it until April, but you’ll get one
My D has a Skype interview on Sunday and we live in NJ. Interviewer said he has been traveling hence the late interview. I’m pretty sure the interview has little or no weight in decision. Finger crossed for everyone here on the thread. 3 of my daughters friends got their decisions tonight and only one had good news.(Cornell)
