sincerely, best of luck to you condor. Just simultaneously pursue the more cautious path of applying to a wide swath of colleges. The schools you’ve been talking about take transcript as their first measure. Unless your EC is a highly recruitable sport (and you’ve been talking with the coaches already) or so fantastically unique, then be wary.

Cool/unique ECs don’t make up for less than stellar GPA/scores 99% of the time. Also ask yourself, has your GC guided others like yourself down this path before?

I’m torn, I personally don’t think my standardized test scores are good enough for Princeton and I don’t want to waste my early action application when I could be applying early to other private schools I might actually get in…but on the other hand Princeton is my dream school. But I’d just feel silly if I got rejected…when I could’ve applied early action/decision elsewhere and actually gotten accepted. So I might apply? …Haven’t really decided

I’m considering Princeton for SCEA, but I’m also looking at Harvard. I have a decent resume and a 2260 SAT, which I retook today; however, I think I did worse. Hopefully my ACT is better. Is it foolish to even be considering apply SCEA to Princeton or Harvard with that SAT score, assuming I have a decent resume and high GPA (and hopefully high SAT Subject Tests; I have yet to spend all summer studying for those)?

Hey Guys! I found an interesting website you might like if you haven’t found it already. It’s called [| Parchment.com » Leader in eTranscript Exchange](http://www.parchment.com). Once you make an account, you make your profile with information about yourself (GPA, standardized testing, ECs, etc.). It’s basically like a chance thread but much more in depth. Then, you enter in all the schools you will be applying to. The website will find students similar to you who applied to those schools in its database. Then it will give you a percentage which stands for your chance of admission. Who knows how accurate this is, but its pretty cool. There are a lot of other neat features on this website that help you figure out your chance of admission. Again, I don’t know how accurate this website is, but it is probably more accurate than getting “chanced” by other high school students.

I’m mostly practicing piano a lot and teaching at a chamber music camp. I started learning a new language which is pretty fun. I believe the date is august 1st. Do you guys no if the princeton supplement essays will stay the same as last year?

I’m not sure. I think we’re still going to have to write about our summers, and the quote about Princeton at the nation’s service and the service of all nations is definitely going to stay. I’d say the one about culture is the most likely to change.

My DS will apply SCEA for Princeton (but we are visiting HPYM next week, so who knows what may happen). DS is from Canada so can’t apply to MIT EA.

DS took the SAT in June and got 2040 (730 CR, 730 M, 580 W) with minimal preparation and is preparing heavily this summer - good to learn on this site that the writing score is the easiest to master. We are new to the whole SAT process and the grammar rules are quite new - but he is learning them now. I am confident he can score 2300 during the October SAT.

I think after our college tour next week he will get a lot more interested and his passion will shine in his application process. We did a tour of Waterloo University (Ontario) and he was very interested afterwards.

Wow…its nice seeing so many other hopefuls…I’m pretty intimidated with applying SCEA…Going to retake my SAT’s in October…practice is pretty tiresome.:(
