Princeton SCEA Hopefuls 2018

^ I’m retaking it in October too.

I have one more subject test to take in October. Have any of you guys looked at the common app yet?

The Princeton supplement came out around Sept. 1 last year, if I remember correctly

September? So much for starting my essays before school starts. :(

I’m already resigned to the fact that my fall is going to be full of college stress. I just want it to be the middle of December so that I will know whether I get in or not (assuming I’m not sent to the purgatory of deferral). I just want to know what will happen so badly!

I’m not stressed…yet.

I’m not crazy stressed yet. I just know that the stress will come. I mostly want to know whether I’ll get in or not…which is impossible to determine until the letter comes out…sigh. But on the bright side, I’ve visited lots of other really nice colleges over the summer. I love Princeton, but I could see myself at a good few colleges.

So are there any other Princeton SCEA applicants on this forum? If you’re reading this, join the conversation!

Hey everyone! I’ll be applying to Princeton SCEA IA :)

I made my Common app account yesterday and added princeton to my college list. However, when I click on the ‘Writing Supplement’ option it says ‘Writing supplement not yet available’. Are you guys encountering the same problem or is it just me? Is the Princeton Supplement even out yet? It was supposed to be on air on 1st August!

Someone said it doesn’t come out until the first of September.

Also, even if a supplement is “out,” it’s usually out first on the college’s website. Very few colleges have their supplements ready in the CommonApp as everybody is still getting used to the new version.

The Princeton supplement has stayed about the same for the past few years. You can plan out your essay, but I wouldn’t take the time to write it before the supplement actually comes out.

Oh okay! Thanks everyone!

I was just on Princeton’s website. It says that the supplement won’t be available until October… I don’t know why they are doing this. The supplements are already available to over half of the schools I am applying to.

Never mind, it’s the arts supplement that isn’t available until October. No word on the regular supplement.

Hey! International student here (Indian). I plan to apply to Princeton SCEA, like all of you here. I took my SAT in June (Score: 2190 (730CR 680M 780W).

2 things: a) I plan to major in biological sciences (biochemistry or molecular biology), does a low SAT math score hurt my chances?

b) I plan to take the following SAT subject tests: Math Level 2 and Chemistry. Should I take them on October 5 or on the 2 November testing date?

quote from their website:

“You are strongly encouraged to complete your standardized testing before the Nov. 1 deadline. If you take standardized tests in November, you should have your scores sent directly to Princeton.”

I have my school first term exams from sep 16-26, which leaves me very little time for SAT 2 prep if I am taking the test in october.

Taking the test in Nov. I will be in a comfortable position, preparation wise, but will it hurt my chances at princeton?

No, taking the test in Nov will do nothing to hurt your chances with Princeton. Just make sure you have the scores sent directly to Princeton so there is no delay with your application.

I’m thinking about applying EA to princeton but I’m not going to get any finaid, which would mean that I can’t afford it, so I don’t know what to do. Any suggestions other than outside scholarships?

bmonticello, if you won’t get finaid, then you should be able to afford Princeton. If you can’t afford it, why won’t you get aid? Do you have some special situation? I’m sure, if admitted, you can talk to the finaid department and get it resolved. Princeton is generous.

Are you absolutely sure? the website does say that the applicants are “strongly” encouraged to complete their testing by November 1. And to send scores directly to princeton, I list princeton as a recipient while registering for the SAT, right? Do I need to pay for rush

@Nihilus We have too much money not to get finaid, but we cant just blow off like $240,000. You tgink they would negotiate?
