Princeton SCEA Hopefuls 2018

^almost. Princeton only denied 49 applicants. I believe 3,042 were deferred out of the approximately 3800 that applied SCEA.

that’s pretty ridiculous. do they know that we were deferred when they review our apps again for RD?

My RD list is Harvard, Dartmouth, Tufts, Williams, Connecticut College, Union College, and Western New England University. Harvard extended me an interview today!

@ realiced: I had the same question! I hope that the answer is yes, but my guess is that they probably do not know who originally applied SCEA.

They know it, and I expect that will give you an edge over RD applicants.

Cool resource here for anyone who wants current answers from current students about Princeton life!

[real talk princeton](http://realtalkprinceton.■■■■■■■■■■)

Got an email from the princeton admissions office informing me of my interviewer. It says “Please expect to be contacted by XXXX XXXXXXXr (<a href="mailto:XXXXXXX@XXXXXXXX.com”>XXXXXXX@XXXXXXXX.com), a member of the Princeton interview committee in your area, to arrange a convenient meeting time and place." This was emailed to me 3 days ago. Do they expect me to directly email this person since an email was provided? Or should I wait to be contacted by him before to not seem annoying and overeager? Not sure…Suggestions?

@SpoolMan I would wait for them to contact you!

Is the waiting killing anyone else? Deferral is really painful /:

It sure is…this was my top school.

It definitely stinks, but I am looking into other schools now. The sad thing is that I would have preferred a flat out rejection to a deferral. I just want some closure. So if you guys are accepted in March, will you definitely go to Princeton or has being deferred affected your feelings about Princeton?

I would still go. I was really disappointed about the deferral, but I don’t have anything against Princeton for deferring me. A lot of it comes down to chance. I would still be happy to attend if I got accepted, but I know I have lots of other options. Getting into UVA took a load off my shoulders.

Yale just released their RD decision time. Any word from Princeton?

Where did they release it?

I believe Yale announced via email (that’s what they did for EA). I’m not sure though, it was on CC.

I read somewhere that all the ivies will post their decisions at the same time - 5pm ET on March 27.

Ok so to those who have been deferred, did you guys take any further actions? What percentage of deferred applicants does Princeton typically accept? I couldn’t find the stats anywhere.

@Happyppah: the consensus seems to be that deferred students are admitted at about the same rate as the RD pool which is about 4-5%.

March 27th seems so far and so close at the same time. I need to practice logging into the admissions portals for all the colleges I applied to to make sure my random passwords and usernames all work.

Princeton still hasn’t sent me admissions portal stuff. Where did you find this info?

I assume our old accounts from SCEA still work, but I could be wrong?
