<p>Degen wins Luce prize to work in China

<p>Princeton senior Natasha Degen has been awarded a 2006 Luce Scholarship to spend next year in China, where she will work as an arts and entertainment editor for China Daily, an English-language newspaper based in Beijing.</p>
<p>Degen, an art history major from Rockville Centre, N.Y., has gained considerable journalism experience during her years at Princeton. She has served as managing editor for The Daily Princetonian student newspaper and written about a broad range of campus topics, including the arts. Degen also participated in internships with The Nation magazine, Artforum magazine and The Village Voice newspaper.</p>
<p>From the Luce Foundation website:</p>
<p>The Luce Scholars Program provides stipends and internships for fifteen young Americans to live and work in Asia each year. Dating from 1974, the program's purpose is to increase awareness of Asia among future leaders in American society.</p>
<p>Last year Princeton had one scholar. The previous year it had two.</p>
