A Yale University New Haven, CT

I dont get that how can a liberal arts college such as Williams be the number 1? I know its a great college but placing it above Harvard, Yale is unbelieveable.

Williams is a fabulous school. Remember most college rankings focus largely on the strength of the undergraduate program. That is why Princeton, in the college rankings, is more often number 1 than anyone else. Byerly often uses university rankings that evaluate graduate research capability to obfuscate the real message - that Princeton's undergraduate program is top dog. So he will cite international research polls to support his spin.
But what Byerly has never addressed head on, and what remains his achillies heel, is Harvard's lack of an undergraduate focus. It has great graduate programs, but if your an undergraduate who wants give and take with your professors, Princeton is the place!
