Princeton students: what do you guys like about Princeton? What do you dislike?

Hi everybody!

I got accepted to a few really good colleges, and right now I'm leaning towards going to Princeton. Could you current and former students talk about what you like and dislike about the place--and also more generally whether you think it's a good choice over its competition--to help me out with the decision? Thanks!

The people, both the students and the professors here, are amazing. The campus is gorgeous, the classes are (for the most part) very interesting, and there’s plenty to do without being in the heart of a city.

If you dig around this forum (and the comment boards of the Daily Princetonian), you’ll see what the most common complaints about the place are (e.g. grade deflation, social engineering, war on eating clubs, etc etc). There is one common thread about the complaints - just about all of our most vocal complaints are due to administrative actions and not due to anything intrinsic about Princeton.

Without administrative meddling, Princeton is one of the most wonderful and pleasant places this side of paradise. I was looking at a girl’s lawnparties/houseparties album which was entitled “Our lives are beautiful” - and it made me really proud that despite all of our problems with Nassau Hall, we still remain the only Ivy League school where you could reasonably expect the average student to express such a sentiment.
