Can anyone give a synopsis of what this is like? Is it worth it to go and will you get the "real" experience?

Also, is it possible to "shadow" a current student there, sit in on his/her classes, etc?

Thanks.

I don’t know if they’ve had them before, but haven’t in past few years when there was no early admissions cycle. Seems like the purpose is to give students a taste of Princeton if they feel they can’t wait until Princeton Preview in April. My son (also accepted to the Class of 2016!) is going to wait and instead attend Princeton Preview which will be a much more full blown affair. I’m sure they’ll do whatever they can do to accommodate you on Tiger Tuesdays, including attending classes.

Tiger Tuesdays is a brand new thing. I believe you will be paired with a student to shadow for the day. It’s obviously not going to be as good and immersion as Princeton Preview is: you will definitely get a good look at what academics are like, but probably won’t get that good of a sense of the social scene.

So what’s Preview Day like then? What happens at that?

Also, is it possible to “shadow” a student?

Princeton preview is essentially a two and half day preview of what it’s like to be a student. You will be assigned to a host whose room you will sleep in and get to sit in on whatever classes you’d like. In addition there are a ton of activities geared toward prefrosh. There’s a big activity fair where most clubs will have a presence, so you can get a good idea of the extracurricular activities people do and that you can be a part of next year. Most of the performance groups also perform at an event called Tiger Night, which is really awesome.

Pretty much every school does something like this. The idea is: we’ve accepted you, you’ve sold yourself well enough to us, now Princeton is trying to sell itself to you.

Just curious: is anyone coming to Tiger Tuesday or are most of you going to wait until Preview Day?

I know Preview Day is more of a full-blown affair but for that very reason, students probably wouldn’t get the “real feel” of the college since Princeton is trying to sell itself to all admitted students. Would attending Tiger Tuesday give students a better feel of what a normal day is like at Princeton?

Thanks!

I’m going so I don’t have to go to school.

ill be going next tuesday (11:45-4:00)… luckily i have off of school anyway for winter break. hope to see you guys there!
