What’s sad is I know almost all my friends from a summer program will get in (about 20 out of 85 students matriculate to Princeton alone each year)… and I know compared to kids who have gone to Princeton from my school in the past that I am more qualified than them (I’m comparing myself to unhooked applicants from my school, not athletes or URMs or legacies), so I’ll just feel very distraught if I don’t get in, especially because Princeton is my dream school.

what summer program is that?

probably RSI

I think you are being too cocky decillion. What are your stats?

I believe he attended the NJ Governor’s School which is decent, but not as prestigious as RSI. Attending a competitive summer program shows that you have strong credentials, however a lot of applicants have that and I would not consider that a definite “hook.” With an 8.8% admit rate, no one should be surprised to be deferred or rejected.

That program is generally a ticket into the ivies but not necessarily HYPSM. I would still like to know his/her stats.

Why? I’m sure he’s a competitive candidate just like you…

So how will people celebrate if they get accepted?

not to be rude, but I agree with illusionist. when you get to this level, nothing’s sure-to-get-me-in quality. Of course being from NJ boosts his/her chances by a lot, though. I wish you all the best of luck by the way!!
I don’t want to imagine that, cause that’d just add to my disappointment when I get rejected, haha.

if only if only :(

@pleaseprinceton haha that’s true but I wanted people to think positive thoughts! Everyone is so stressed and nervous that I thought maybe thinking about how they would celebrate might cheer everyone up a bit. I see your point though

Most CC’ers have posted their stats somewhere on the site, and if you view his or her profile and past posts you may be able to find them if you so wish (haha, I hope this doesn’t seem stalkerish. I do that a lot though xD)

Maybe I will get Chipotle as celebration. Dang it, I probably will get Chipotle as a consolation prize if I am rejected. I still want to bake a lot though. I probably will just eat a lot no matter what to get over the dramatic experience.

Just for another question:
If you had to sum up the hour just before you find out your Princeton Early Action fate in just one word, what would that word be?
I will think about mine for a while, since I seriously have no idea :)

Chaotic
or :D

I’m thinking i’ll go to workout and be home around 4 so i don’t just stare at my computer clicking refresh for 3 hours.

ohh gosh i’ll be at my first kickline tryout of the year…the girls will think i’m some great captain, staring at my phone the whole time!

Hahaha I would describe the hour before as…death. I’m already going absolutely insane. I had to recite a poem today in English and I literally started to say “Princeton” in the middle of it before I caught myself.

hello lovely people. i was wondering, what exactly counts as a URM ? And if you ARE one, does that make a big difference? Thanks.

I never said I would be surprised to get deferred or rejected, it’s just something I don’t want to happen… which I’m sure everyone on this thread would agree with. I just believe compared to people that I know on a personal level who are current, past, and prospective Princeton students… that I deserve to be in the applicant pool and can only wish for the best. Of course not everyone’s dreams can be met, and if such is the case with mine I’ll merely feel very upset and disappointed. How is that unreasonable at all?

Did I ever say attending a summer program would get me in? I just hinted at the fact that so many students from the program matriculate to Princeton every year that I would feel veritably left out if I were not the lucky one out of four who go to Princeton. And stats wise, about 20 go to Princeton, ~6 to Yale, ~10 to Harvard, ~10 to Columbia, ~10 to Penn, and ~10 to MIT… so it’s not like only a select few get to go to the school of their choice.

Also, keep in mind that unless you’re a completely unqualified candidate for Princeton SCEA, you probably will not be rejected. If your application is at least slightly competitive, you will be deferred at the worst. I remember hearing an admissions officer make note of deferral vs. rejection in one of the seminars after attending some shmancy (not really) open house thing they invited local students to.

does anyone else go to a catholic school?

I was just looking at the Harvard thread… And what percentage of admitted students do you guys think will be recruited athletes?
