Just had such an awkward Princeton interview!
I live pretty close to Princeton, so it was at this fancy members-only Princeton club thing. That was intimidating as hell. My interviewer showed up late, but the place was big so I like walked around awkwardly to make sure he wasn’t waiting for me somewhere - then I gave up and sat near the door lol. And then while we were having the actual interview (the guy was great, though - super nice), one of his friends who does interviews for Cornell showed up. I then got asked if I applied to Cornell (yes) and if I’d had an interview (no). I then got asked where I was applying generally. WHY WOULD I TELL YOU ABOUT OTHER SCHOOLS DURING A PRINCETON INTERVIEW?! So I only mentioned like two other schools, but my God, it was so weird.
At least he didn’t ask for my SAT scores like my Brown interviewer
I hope I didn’t seem as nervous as I felt! The interviewer was really nice, and I might just be worried about minutia, but such is my personality.
I have my interview in like 3 hours… any advice?
@drblack just be natural and explore your interests! Ask questions!
I have a phone interview later today… I’m so nervous!. has anyone else had a phone interview? What are they like compared to normal interviews?
Can someone please tell me my chances of admission? I’m playing the waiting game right now and it’s killing me. I’m just curious!

Hooks: I’ve heard being Asian hurts your chances. However, I’m first generation to go to college. My parents make 65,000 to feed house of 5, 2 in college, 1 in private school.

Cons: bad scores for being asian?
Here is a link to the admission statistics for the class of 2018 http://admission.princeton.edu/applyingforadmission/admission-statistics As you can see there are very, very few students who are admitted in the lower range of scores and I would suggest that those who are admitted with those scores have another compelling “hook” that gains them admission. So realistically I would suggest your probability is quite low. I’d suggest you set your focus on some of your match schools and see what comes.
Thank you for your frank honesty and the web link! I knew Princeton was a long shot going in, but part of me can’t help but hope, it’s been a dream of mine for a while. I know the chances are pretty low, I have other schools that I have better chances of gaining admission to.
We’re into the homestretch now! I just want to wish everyone the best of luck. Seems that luck plays quite the significant role in admissions these days.
What’s everyone spending their time doing while waiting for decisions? (besides school…)
Other than school… Mostly work and working out, but I’m also preparing for a few economics competitions in the near future.
Not doing anything special right now tbh, just the usual (reading, schoolwork, chillaxin on my last semester of HS). I have an organic chem midterm coming up in two days, so that’s something I’m not looking forward to. SO MUCH memorization.
It’s official. Princeton is going to release their admissions decisions on March 27th.

@Hawkace Yay!! Four days earlier!
I wonder if the other ivys will follow suit.
Apparently all the Ivys agree on a particular date (known as “Ivy Day”), so if Princeton is releasing its decisions on March 27, so are all the others.
@neatoburrito By Ivy League agreement, all decisions are released on the same day.

Okay so I just phoned Dartmouth and she specifically told me that “All the Ivies are releasing on the 31st”… so Princeton having the 27th is rather bizarre… maybe someone should phone another Ivy/Princeton to double check? Not that it really matters but it’d be nice to anticipate something LOL
ALSO, this webpage on Princeton’s website shows the 31st. I think the one that’s been posted ^ is out of date!!

Sorry to disappoint you all guys!! It’s only 4 days tho…
@EuropeanGal There’s no point in phoning Princeton. Why would they update their website unless they were actually releasing their decisions on March 27th? I guess that the other Ivies weren’t aware of Princeton’s action. Don’t worry. The rest of the Ivies will probably change their date today or tomorrow.
Hmmm… it may be out of date. I guess that you may be right, because March 27th is on a Friday, while Ivy Day is usually on Thursday.
@Hawkace Yeah, and Princeton would absolutely not just change the date without consulting the other Ivies, which, by the sound of what the Dartmouth lady said to me, they haven’t. It’s still the 31st.
