@iiRoMii Thank you! As a BSE chemical & biological applicant, I hope the poetry will benefit me. I’m type 1 diabetic and started a diabetes support group in my school, which is what I’m most passionate about and am wanting to do research in diabetes biotechnology. My science fair project is based on this as well, which hopefully helps.
Wow you guys are quite amazing!!
and i can’t see why Princeton, or any other Ivy wouldn’t take you in
lets just hope for the best and keep pushing forward and trying our best
Well I was thinking about updating my application as well
recently organized an entrepreneurial event at my school and have been teaching some underprivileged poor children as well
going for a national level physics championship soon as well
hopefully i’ll win
lets hope for the best for all of us
@iiRoMii: Your math is a bit off for Harvard. According to the article 6100 students applied SCEA that year. 918 students were accepted SCEA, meaning 5,182 were not. Harvard deferred 75% of those not accepted or 3,886 students. And only 2.3% of those deferred students were accepted in the RD round. That’s about 89 students. So yes, for some deferred students at Harvard (and I imagine at Princeton) not all is lost when deferred. However 97.8% of deferred students need to move on! They must begin the process of falling in love with a college that fell in love with them.
@gibby I used a pool of 7000 that’s why. I do agree with your last statement though I was just saying there are a few rare notable exceptions for deferral acceptances.
However, this is Princeton so pretty much anyone who gets in even regularly is a notable exception LMAO
Hey guys! Also deferred from Princeton SCEA. I recently uploaded a LOCI (in PDF form) to the portal as an optional supporting document, but it’s not showing up as received. Should I be concerned? They want any and all new info by the end of January, which is really soon!!
It does state that “optional supporting material(s)” were received, and I think that was likely my additional letter of recommendation, but I can’t be sure (I submitted the LOCI before my teacher emailed the rec letter).
I went back to Princeton last Saturday for a Science Olympiad invitational. I had already accepted the deferral as a rejection, but my heart just fell for Princeton again and it was so sad… I wanted to cry because I love Princeton so much. While I was there, I talked to a student that was deferred and then accepted. There’s hope, however slim!
Question: I know updating schools on achievements are good but I’m not sure if mine would qualify for an achievement. I auditioned for the National Youth Orchestra (NYO-USA) and I got alternate for the third time… should I still email them?
It’s very unlikely to be accepted after being deferred. Don’t get your hopes up. Fall in love with the school that wants you. If you made it to deferred list at Princeton, you can get good options.
Haha I’m not counting on being accepted–probably for the best. I sent them the information anyways. Good luck everyone on the thread, I hope you get great news!
So if applying SCEA shows that Princeton is an applicant’s first choice, why is a LOCI necessary if there are no significant updates? Do u think a defered Princeton applicant can still be admitted w/ out sending a LOCI?
@oak2maple While I agree with what you’re saying, I sent a LOCI anyways. Like you, I didn’t have any significant updates to add, but I sent a Deferral Letter just for the sake of it. Can’t hurt my chances, so might as well try…
But then again, not sending a LOCI shouldn’t impact your admission chances significantly, in my opinion at least.
I know that deferred applicants have like a 2% chance of getting admitted RD, but do you guys have any ideas as to what kind of students (ie, stats/hooks) get accepted after getting deferred?
No idea, I got it in my head that I hadn’t done enough since submitting my app to send a LOCI which was so dumb. Def not expecting anything and trying to focus on other schools
