Princeton University SCEA 2022 Deferred Thread

Well, the news came out today. If you are reading this, then you must have internet and therefore have most likely read the Update and saw your deferral. At least I did. I thought I might start this thread for sharing tips and steps after deferral. Good luck in the Second Round y’all!

Same here!!

So here is a question i have… I heard that there are two different deferral letters. One is “better” than the other. Would ya’ll mind saying what your letter stated so we could find out if this is fact or fiction. Thanks :slight_smile:

@neuroman do you have a source for the 2 versions of the letter? I’m trying to kill this rumor if possible.

Very cold letters.

@psywar do you think it is a myth? - Somebody in the SCEA thread said it

Hoping it’s a myth - everyone I know that got the deferral got the same one above, including myself.

MODERATOR’S NOTE:

It’s an urban legend.

Is deferral just a postponement of rejection?

No, but you should manage your expectations, because it’s not promising. I would assume the acceptance rate for deferred applicants will be lower than the overall RD acceptance rate.

This is for Harvard, but I can’t imagine that it’s much different for Princeton:

I was deferred but Princeton never bothered to ask me for my Q1 grades, do I have any chances at all? I was thinking of submitting a letter of intent but idk if it’s worth it if I don’t have much chances…

No correlation. They will get your midyear report.

Should I send them Q1 grades anyway?

@Pianomonster20
No point in sending Q1 grades if they are included in your midyear.

But I’m pretry sure my mid year grades will be averaged.

Does anyone know if people are rejected from SCEA? I know CC isn’t very representative of the applicant pool but I haven’t seen anyone report rejection. Does Princeton just defer those who don’t get accepted? Thanks

@vghsstudent2108
Like 50-70% of applicants are deferred. Some are rejected, but i would say those are probably mostly international applicants or people that clearly wouldnt be accepted in regular decision. Thats just my guess though

As someone hit upon earlier, is there anything that we need to do in the way of Letters of intent or uploading new documents?

people do get denied
