Princeton Vs Stanford

My name is Diego (you can call me frodo Though) and I am from Guatemala. I have been for the past weeks in the difficult decision of choosing among the colleges that admited me and got down to these two: Princeton and Stanford. I want to study engineering (not shure if EE, CS, ME) because I want to research in Artificial Intelligence and robots. I feel Princeton has a great undergrad program, and is the best (with Cornell) among the Ivies in engineering, but Stanford has far greater reputation on engineering. I was wondering if stanford would give me better chance to enter the top grad schools for engineering than Princeton. At the end I just cant find a reason for one college over the other. Some advice please!!!!!!!!

PD: I also have Harvey Mudd, Coope Union and Columbia, does anybody know something abouth their engineering program???

Hell I'd choose Stanford. You like the weather in Guatemala b/c the cold might become hard to get used to. I'd choose Stanford in a heartbeat. That's just me tho. Think about what about each college evironment do you like the most? Then choose one based on that.

I would choose Stanford in a heartbeat too.

reasons: Highest reputation in technical and nontechnical fields, engineering program second to none, a little bit of grade inflation, I think Stanford's location is better too.

i personally like princeton better, but that's just me. that has been my #1 school for a while.. but that's cuz i'm not a west coast person. and in terms of engineering, stanford is much much better. so i'd say choose stanford over princeton. princeton's engineering isnt so hot.

princeton is ranked higher in us news

so that means it must be better

stanford's engineering program is definately second to MIT

I think Princeton might be viewed as more prestigious overall, but in your area, Stanford is booming, and so is the surrounding Silicon Valley area. However, I've been told -- and this is simply anecdotal -- that business opportunities in California are all but washed up for the long term and that the real action is moving East. Don't pelt me with rotten fruit for that statement -- it's just something I heard from a high-tech California CEO.

As others have mentioned, I think you might find less culture shock, both weather-wise and otherwise at Stanford.

Congratulations on your wonderful opportunities. No bad choice here.

MIT wasn't one of the choices. Overall, I'd say the general opinion is Stanford is better for you evironmentally and academically. Good options and congrats again.

I would go with Stanford. They are both basically top-five schools and Stanford has a much better engineering reputation.

Stanford would be my first choice.

I would pick pton

Stanford. Pton really just doesn't have the same quality in engineering.

Stanford is much better in engineering. Choose Stanford!

Frodo,
I have a friend whose husband went to Princeton for undergrad and then Stanford for grad school (both in engineering). I've talked to him about this because my own son's first choice was Stanford and my friend's husband REALLY made a strong case for Princeton. His top reason was that at Princeton his classes were taught by actual profs and not a bunch of TAs. At Stanford this was not the case at all, but his opinion was that Stanford was the best for grad school.

This was a few years ago and I don't know if that is still the case, but you may want to find out if that's important to you.

Princeton is more undergraduate-focused.

princeton is more prestigious.

its easier to get a job from princeton. going to stanford=jobless

Thanks a lot guys, it seems that in my case it bends towards stanford but....
the thing that has stoped me from choosing stanford is that i wish to experience life in the east. I am not worried about the cultural shock, I love meeting people from different backgrounds. I lived in UC Davis for four years and I like life in california but, maybe its time for something new

Hey how are you. Your from MIT right? well I didnt get in, but it was my first choice. What do you think are my chances to get into grad school if I go to Princeton? And to Stanford?

No SS4song is a liar. Oh well. Just go where you feel comfortable. You chose Stanford. If you do well at either school it won't matter.

xSsJ4s0ng0kUx100x, where do you go to school?
