Princeton

Despite my going to Columbia this fall I'm still smitten over my rejection to Princeton. I know, pretty lame, right? I never thought I'd be one of those people complaining about college rejection.

Can you guys tell me why Columbia is a better school than Princeton? What sort of things we have (at the school itself, not the city) that are better? Activities? Traditions?

two good threads to that effect are linked in the Helpful Columbia Threads thread.

and Columbia has traditions but we're not noisy and in-your-face about them. they're not the central part of campus culture.

I'm not a Columbia student but would love to be one (at least, I think...I've got some time) when the time comes. At Columbia, you've got every opportunity at your fingertips. Internships aren't reserved to the summer like they'd be at Princeton; you're THERE, in NYC.

Whoops, just saw that you said not the city. Well, I personally think the Core is an awesome attribute. And my personal interests lie in creative writing and international relations, two huge strengths of Columbia. From what I can tell from theU.com, Columbia's international population is incredible--there are so many opportunities that stem from such a diverse place.

Other than that, I'm sure you'll be very happy with Columbia. Nobody's thinking about old rejections come Thanksgiving.

Princeton is unique and Columbia is unique.
It doesn't have to be that one school is better than another.

The Core is great for students who haven't had the opportunity to enjoy and critically discuss classical literature. I mean, it's New York City. Core and New York City. Do you need any more reasons?

was this necessary to post in two different forums?
