What would you say are the best things about Princeton that make it more attractive to other similarly selective schools? What are some of the strongest depts and why? I am interested in strength of pre-med programs/counseling and the extent of undergraduate research available...any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

its smile. oh, and its sense of humor.

There is a veritable hive of pre-meds and advisors thereof. There's a pre-med society and health professions advising. They have practically all the information you need, including course requirements, suggested course plans, admissions information, everything.

undergrad focus (much more than Harvard Yale or Stanford): there aren't that many grads at princeton
beautiful campus
great profs

strong depts are: math, physics, english, economics, public policy (WWS). Those departments are among the top few in the country. Most of the other depts are also strong. why? lots of ressources, great profs, small classes...

Having visited several liberal arts colleges and universities through debate, I would say that I most appreciate Princeton for combining the best traits of the two types of schools. For example, while similarly-presitigious schools might have libraries as extensive as Firestone, the Friend Center, the Language Resource Center, etc., the fact is that almost none of them have such facilities exclusively for undergraduates. I have yet to see a facility that comes close to Frist in terms of just being an awesome student center -- the one at Penn was nice, and Harvard's Lokker Commons was nice, although it lacked a food court. I have never felt subordinate to a professor (in other words, that he had better things to do with his grad students).

I also really enjoy Princeton's location. While there are perks to an urban location, there are plenty of interesting shops + restaurants in Princeton, and I like being close enough to visit the city, at the same time that I can retreat to the Gothica of Princeton. The only annoying thing about the location is that it can be harder to reach malls and places like Wal-Mart, but I understand one can just take the bus if they need to go to a place like that.

Ronlivs - it's got a great med admission record AND an extremely helpful staff/site/resources/alum connections. Check it out here http://web.princeton.edu/sites/hpa/.
Yale insists it has a great med admission record too, except when I asked them, they wouldn't show it to me. They wouldn't show it to a Yalie I asked either. Princeton's attitude was exactly the opposite.

Yes- the people are so open and helpful.

And the campus! swoons
