I know this girl who has a 2400/36, 800 in math 2, physics, chem and spanish (no shes not spanish, shes jewish) but a 2.9-3.0. She's a super smart genius who is in all APs but doesn't do the work because it's too easy. She finally sucked it up and her senior yr gpa is a 4.0. now the question is, will she get in?

Btw, if you think i'm "my friend," you're wrong. I wish i was that smart. She took the tests cold.

rejection. high school is about effort. regardless of her intelligence, which is clearly through the roof, she shows no effort or care or passion in her academics. i would estimate that she has absolutely no chance. in fact, most adcoms will look at her test scores and grades and when compared side by side will just see her as lazy.

she wasnt lazy, just not motivated by such “easy work.” she clearly showed passion through her sports and ecs. but if she doesnt get in… more room for the rest of us

Her only shot, I believe, is if she has national/international awards in an academic field or is a freak at a form of art or music, IMO. But Princeton, in general, does love 2400’s.

um, I think rejection is almost guaranteed.

“she clearly showed passion through her sports and ecs”
wait, where does it say that?

high scores are great and all, but plenty of applicants have high scores and also have grades that don’t suck. “easy work” doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. motivation should come from within. lack of motivation is a terrible excuse.

furthermore, I’m pretty sure if she was as smart as you say, she wouldn’t have to do the work and just ace all the tests anyways.

I got a 2400 and my grades don’t suck. It saddens me that she has squandered four years like that. What did she do with all the time she had from not doing work? I was similar to her in 8th/9th grade, but I spent most of that time writing. Then when I started to actually care/work I got good grades in 10th grade and had developed some nifty writing abilities to boot. Perhaps she has spent that time developing some talent or conducting an activity not mentioned by the OP. If not, then I don’t think she has legit. chances.

i think she plays like 5 instruments and she’s also competing in youngArts. i dont know her enough to know exactly why she lacked the effort. i just know that she was practically never in school.

^ i wouldn’t worry about that, (1) 710 is not a bad score at all and (2) there are many more things than ACT/SAT scores

while the perfect 36 ACT / 2400 SAT scores are always sought after, a good 33+ ACT / 2200+ SAT are fine; if your ECs, leadership, extra involvement, etc… are outstanding, then you have a good shot; 2400s and 36s get denied frequently

now if you have a 2400 / 36 and have all those ECs, etc, then you’re doing really well, of course

anyway, back to point, don’t get worked about the 710 SAT I Math vs. 800 SAT II Math IIC
