Principal Nomination

I received a phone call from the congressman, today, and he told me that I got the principal nomination.

How much the principal nomination different from the regular nomination???

just wondering..

It means you are the first pick for that nomination slot. It you are academically and physically qualified you are pretty much in.

By law you must be admitted if you are triple qual. Congrats, as you can see through other posts about noms it is rarely done...so that is why it is very special!

dychang,

Congratulations to you. Receiving a primary nomination speaks very highly of you and your application. Now, don't get senioritis.

Dychang: Congratulations. Keep working on those Verbal SAT scores so you can get academically qualified. You are almost there!

GO Cholos!

Damn English... ha haa. I am 99.9% there... thanks for the supports, everyone!

Im in the same boat as dychang...I recieved a call informing me of being the congressman's "primary nomination"...but it has not show up on my candidate file yet. This was about three weeks ago. Did yours show up on your file? how long did it take? - Debating calling his secretary

Mine have not showed up on my candidate file yet. It's been three days for me, so I will wait for another week or so.
I will let you know, if mine get updated, Champs06.

mine still hasnt come up to its been almost 4 weeks now

I had to wait a few (4-5) weeks before I heard back from my Senators. I was told that mailing was an issue, and that is why my Feingold rejection/congrats letter came before the Kohl nomination letter came. If anyone is that anxious to find out, call their academy co-ordinator and ask for the status of the nomination.

dychang- Since you recieved principle nomination, I assume you didnt have LOA? My MOC said that he wouldnt Principle nominate me even if I was the best candidate, in an effort to get 2, rather than 1 into the academy. Is that the case?

hee hee, inhibitor/ I am facing a dilemma here.

To earn an appointment for class of 2012 at West Point, I must achieve 550 or above on Verbal portion of SAT; otherwise, I am going to USMAPS. so,,, my last Jan. SAT will determine my destiny.

if i was given that offer i would study day and night for that test

Dychang... hire a tutor :)

Other candidates would kill for a principal...it is the golden ticket, especially since you admit that you are not scholastically qual. I hope you understand how special you are, and there are people cringing right now from your state knowing that their fate may lie in your hands.

dychang - I am pulling for you but you already know USMAPS is not the end of the world. You are going to get to West Point either way.
Scoring well on the SAT is hard enough - even harder when English is not your first language.
Hang in there buddy!

Dychang.

JAM is right MAPS is a great option. No matter what you should be very proud of what you accomplish. I should say that when I say hire a tutor I meant that do everything possible...hiring a tutor can help you get your dream.

JustAMomOF4/
I am alive again, because of the winter break!! I've been sleeping 3 hrs a day... SAT is just killing me.
Does anyone know how to pick the best choice among five choices?? To me, always, two choices look alike and I pick the wrong one... it's so disappointing..

dychang,

Don't boo me out of the forum since I'm a youngster at Navy...

But, you must know that a principal nomination is probably more rare than an LOA. It is pretty much a guarunteed slot at the academy once you are triple Q'd. It is most often given when a congressman finds something unusual about a candidate where he/she feels that they NEED to have this person in the Academy. I had one too and had the minimum requirements met, so I was lucky enough to get in but did not recognize its signifigance until sometime later.

Congratulations once again for being 99% done with the process and best of luck on the SAT.

dychang...my primary congressional nom showed up today, I imagine if your rep. is on a similar schedule it should show up in a week or two, as you found out about yours roughly the same time as i, good luck

i also received a principal nomination from my congressman.. i wound up at the prep school... i am glad that i am here rather than the academy.. make sure you do your research.. i hope you know what you are doing and that this is for you..
