Hi everyone,
I got on the priority waitlist for CIT and MCS. Should I accept the offer? Also, is it worth it to visit the college if I accept?
I also got into Berkeley (L/S), UCLA (CSE), and Harvey Mudd, and felt that CMU would offer aspects I like out of all these colleges (small-ish feel like HMC plus amazing research like Cal/LA). I’m not exactly sure if it’s my first choice though, as I’d be going out of state and thus would have to pay a lot more.
Choose Berkeley or even Mudd. Waitlist is highly unreliable and priority waitlist means you acknowledge cmu is your first choice. UC Berk has better weather and better tech location. Def not worth paying more for cmu
It seems everyone so far posting on CC, a small number, granted, got onto the so called "priority " wait list for CMU. It could be a gimmick CMU uses to get students to sign on so they can fill spots. All your other choices are outstanding, choose one out in California, you cannot go wrong. UCLA is fabulous choice too, if you like LA, choose it. Berkeley is not really that much better. Mudd is very different, smaller, and you need to visit to be sure you like the atmosphere. Its girl heavy, for science school, if you are a girl could be supportive for you. Bigger schools have research though as you point out.
My daughter is waitlisted at both CMU and GATech. She is planning to accept CMU priority waiting list.
If she got admission from CMU priority waiting list on May 6 and choose to deposit $800, Is this binding.
If she gets admission later from GATech, is she allowed to enroll at GATech. CMU is her top choice, but we are Georgia residents. The total cost for us will be 15K at GA Tech vs 51K at CMU
