Did anyone ever contact the admissions office about the regular waitlist and the priority waitlist?? If so, can you explain the main difference between the two? For ex: CMU has a clear, distinct difference between priority and regular waitlists.

priority means you go ahead of the regular waitlist. Dont really know anything about it

I didn’t think Rice even had a priority waitlist…

If it makes you feel any better, I’m an admitted student and I’m not going to Rice.

They said there is no difference. (Yeah right!)

Called in. Basically there are two pools. The priority waitlist get’s first preference for openings. Once the priority waitlist is gone through they move onto the regular waitlist.

basically the “priority” is the first few people on the regular waitlist

Haha so in a sense they DO rank their waitlistees…just in two piles instead of #1,2,3 etc…
good to know :)
