private 4-year to CC to Davis

Hi, I'm currently attending a private 4-year university and wish to transfer for Junior year and I don't think I would like to stay another year here.

Would it be an option to attend my local CC for sophomore year and transfer as a Junior to Davis? (Got accepted last year, turned down for private 4 year). Would employers not like this?

why not just apply directly for davis?

deadline for fall 2009 has passed already… :/

Employers would not know you attended a CC or left your priv 4 yr uni unless you tell them on your resume, and you don’t have to. Your degree is coming from Davis thats all that matters.

As far as attending the cc, you would have to be very careful to not repeat your courses and to make sure you fullfill IGETC and your major pre-reqs. There also may eb a complication coming from a semester to a quarter system.

Attending your local community college is a great idea if you plan to transfer to UC Davis. Not only will you receive priority admissions (since you will be applying from a California community college) but, you will more easily be able to tell which courses are UC transferable, which courses you should be taking to satisfy your lower division courses and save some money.

Like mentioned by psydoneum, make sure you don’t duplicate coursework. If you don’t have time to complete IGETC don’t worry; UC Davis does not require (in most cases does not recommend) completion of IGETC for admission.
