Private bathrooms

NYU has all private bathrooms in all dorms.

UCLA has them in some dorms (in the suites i think)

All of Fordham Lincoln Center's dorms have their own bathroom (and kitchen and living room).

The USC private bathrooms ARE cleaned by the cleaning staff...which is a good thing, cuz I wouldn't otherwise stand the mess my suitemates make all the time.

8 1/2--to reply to your question many posts ago:

I don't carry wipes with me when I'm out. If I've got to sit on the toilet, I'm usually in close enough distance to my home that I can hold it until I drive back. I do take them to hotels, though, and disinfect almost everything since I can never be sure how often it's really done thouroughly by the maids.

And as for the oversanitation thing--I am religious about my sanitation and as a result went seven straight years (grades 6-12) without missing any days of school. Goes to show what a little prevention can do for you.

I thought private bathrooms were the norm at most colleges.
So it's like open showers and stuff? Or mostly closed?

Two words for communal bathrooms: flip flops.

"...Research has repeatedly shown that over-sanitation at a young age actually stunts immune system development! hmm... might this impact our chances of not only getting pathogenic diseases but also other diseases such as cancer?"

When they say "over-sanitation", I think they mean needlessly washing your hands using anti-bacterial soap every 5 minutes. Not sharing a bathroom with a bunch of strangers.

Either way, I know Seton Hall has private suite bathrooms.

communal bathrooms aren't fun, but they're bearable... and if your bathroom gets unbearably bad for some reason, or if you have any problems in particular (i.e. people are not cleaning up after themselves) talk to your RA.

y17k, i know that at clemson, college of charleston, and the university of south carolina all of the showers are stalls, we have 6 shower stalls per floor in my building, its basically a locker room style shower with dividers and a shower door. its really not that bad at all.

Drexel has private bathrooms in suites, but freshmen can't get suites unless they're in the Honors program.

UPenn has certain apartment-style dorms with a private bathroom.

communal ones aren't too bad if everyone is considerate...i didn't have any probs with the bathrooms in my hall the past year, and it was cleaned daily

Don't forget to disinfect the door handles!
