schools with the nicest dorms...private baths?

I had no idea, until recently, that some colleges and universities have dorms with private bathrooms. What colleges and universities have private baths and the nicest dorms?

Chapman University

NYU has private bathrooms. Nice dorms, however, not exactly. They're small. They're in NYC. They're what you'd expect.

A lot of California schools have certain dorms which do and certain dorms which don't. Usually it's a trade-off because if you have a private bathroom you have 3 roommates, so it just depends.

I heard Yale doesnt have air conditioning in the dorms.....is that true? cause if so I'm going to change my mind about applying there O_O

I hear that GWU has nice dorms.

dartmouth freshman dorms are really sweet, yes with private bathrooms, but in the sense that only one person can use the toilet room or shower room at a time

I really hope that private bathrooms and air conditioning aren't factors in anyone's college search.

Aircon is not a necessity in the north east. It's nice, sure. But it's only necessary for the first 4-6 weeks of every year.

And most of the time the dorm bathrooms won't be crowded. If you live in a suite you'll only share a bathroom with 3/4 other people. The downside being that it will only get cleaned once a week rather than every two weeks.

Yeah...don't cross Yale off your list because of no AC. Many schools in that area, and even a bit south of that, won't have it.

In terms of private bathrooms, I think what HisGraceFillsMe said about CA schools is true everywhere: at a lot of schools, some dorms have private bathrooms (or bathrooms shared between, like, 4 people), and some dorms have traditional dorm bathrooms.

well, i live in south carolina, in one of the most uncomfortable cities in America (because of the humidity), and according to my computer, the temperature outside is 106, and it feels like 115, so dorms without air conditioning seem so far fetched to me right now. but you're more than likely correct, a/c is not really needed in the northeast.

Yea it's true. I stayed at Yale over the summer for JSA---- no AC due to the buildings are old and doesn't supposedly support the wiring. ::BULL::

But it gets cold in New Haven (or bearable) by mid-september and you get off by early May so it doesn't really matter. ONly two of Columbia's 4 freshman dorms have AC too.

well I live in southern ny sortof so the summers are just >>_<< , but If its really colder up there then I guess thats good =D

Most dorms in the northeast don't have ac - at least at the schools that I've visited.

I visited Union College once and they have the NICEST Air Conditioning I ever felt! Every room you can lower the temp to 60 degress while its a boiling 95 degrees outside! Same with Ualbany. ENORMOUS Waste of energy, but still

SDSU lets you lower it to 50 :) I stayed in their dorms for 10 days and it was so nice because it was like scorching hot outside but you'd walk in to your dorm and it would be nice and cool.

50 omg
it doesn't even get that hot in San D.!!
ok so yeah it does but a 60 degree difference from the hottest days is pretty rediculous

oh and I don't have a/c at home so i think people in LA who do have it are enviable/wimpy.

hehe

I've heard WUSTL was hot!

UCLA has certain dorms that have private bathroom. Well it's not totally 100% private since you have to share it with your roommate(s), but still, with A/C and option to not having to share bathroom with 50 other kids on your floor makes UCLA quite attractive :)

hey^^^ i thought u were supposed to be at UCLA not MIT

Pomona has great dorms...half the freshman dorm rooms are big singles, never share a bathroom with >3 or 4 others, suites and apartments after freshman year, very nice indeed.
