I will be applying to UT for the fall of 2007. I was looking at private dorms like Dobie and University Towers. I noticed that the applications are already available, whereas the others from the UT come out September 1. I am too late to get my first choices at the these private dorms? When did the applications become available?</p>

<p>Off-campus dorms have their own schedules and you need to contact them early to get on the leasing list. Our son wanted a private room (no roommate) and that is difficult to find. We looked at Dobie, Castilian, Towers, and others in July-August of the year prior to his entrance at UT, and we made a deposit in September. We didn't know whether he would even attend UT nor did we know if he would be admitted to the majors he wanted, but we wanted to make sure he got his preferred room if he did attend. If you don't need a private room, you might be able to wait until October but I would contact the dorms now. Some years they fill up sooner than others.</p>

<p>Don't worry about getting a room at a private dorm, especially large ones like Dobie, Towers, or Castilian - my friend and I were at Towers last May and they still had rooms for that fall. </p>
<p>I sent my deposit into Castilian around February.</p>
