Private Dorms

i don't know what you guys are talking about, but singles are really hard to get. demand is extremely high for them.

airbear, if you don't end up getting a single, just don't sign your housing contract when you get a room offer. there will most likely someone who will want to give away their single to move off campus.

If you stay in the same dorm you had freshman year, singles are easy to get sophomore year due to returning students getting priorty in the housing lottery (long story... Someone else can explain it if you want it explained). However, as a freshman, it's difficult (but not impossible) to get a single. I say a double is good during your freshman year. Yes, you get a lot of interaction with your roommate (and learn how to live with another person if you haven't up to this point), but you'll also be forced to keep your door open and meet other people in your hall.

As someone who has lived in TOWER PLAZA, not University Towers Apts...I say unless you are so rich the OS Mich Tuition is a joke to you, Don't both with the apts...its DEFINITELY NOT worth $1200-$1400/month. The entrance looks nice yes, and the lobby is nice yes, but the rooms suck terribly. You will get extremely ripped off. The service is horrible. The landlord doesn't even know what the hell he's talking about half the time. The Electricity Bill + internet service is also a total waste

you will definitely be spending more than necessary for this place. $1250 + $100 in bills is pretty bad. As I said, unless you gotta roommate and can split the costs, or you are really wealthy, this place is def not worth it.

Thanks umardarr. Very useful information.

I actually liked Tower Plaza. It's one of the best complexes around. Also the apartment conditions will vary. And it isn't like there's one landlord for the whole building... Plus it looks like you paid a bit too much.

dude no lol..TP sucked, haha...it is probably one of the best complexes that is directly next to central campus, but I found deals later in the year for 3 bdroom brand new furnished apts near the med school and waht not that were way better.

And of course I paid too much, part of the reason I hate it lol. I dunno why it was so much for me, racism? i dunno, cause i know others who didnt pay that much. i lived with a roommate too so a large 1 bedroom complex is gonna be pretty crappy for 2 people but the only 2 bedroom ones were on the very top floor which weren't for rent. those were REALLY nice but too expensive.

there are 2 main dudes who have their office in the lobby area. those are the guys you sign your lease with. The amount that you pay depends on the amount the specific owner of the room offers.

obviously im getting way to excited here, hahahaha...I'm just saying it's not really worth money cause regardless if i paid TOO much, it's still A LOT more than better deals you can find in ann arbor.
