Private School Now Out of the Question?

Hey Kids--I'm not sure I am posting this in the right place, but I was wondering if your parents are dashing your dreams of going to a private university because of the downturn in the economy. My daughter has the grades, etc. to get into just about any school she wants, and her dream school is Villanova. However, we have lost a bundle recently (and most people out there). We can afford to send her to a state school (UNC or NC State) without taking on any student loans. Are you having simular conversations with your folks? What are your parents telling you?

Really? Are you kidding? You don’t know if you’re posting in the right place?

Does your post have anything to do with summer programs? Anything at all?

Did you just close your eyes and pick a random sub-thread?

[/rant] :(

Good schools have excellent FA so you shouldn’t discourage her from applying to better schools because you don’t think you can afford it.

Unless she is going to stay at home while attending State or UNC I bet that when you add in financial aid that the price will be just about the same or sometimes better for good students. Depends on the skills she brings to the table and what they are looking for to round out the class. Apply than see what happens.
