I'm wondering, what do public schoolers think when they find out one of their friends is going to attend a private or boarding school. Please don't be too offensive, but please state your opinion!
Thanks!

Well, I’m actually the one going to boarding school next year, but I can share some of my friends’ reactions!

They all, of course, said they’d miss me, but some people I know got a little defensive. They took offense to the fact that I don’t exactly like my school. And some people asked what I did wrong to get shipped off to boarding school! Haha. Only 1 person in the last ten years has left to go to boarding school, so it’s quite unusual.

Sorry if I’m not much of a help!

bump… 10char

Personally, I want to try out private schools if I had the power to go back in time. Especially private schools focused on STEM…

Nothing wrong with private schools. I go to one, I have friends in public who really don’t care.

ugh I wish I went to a private school! I hate, okay really dislike my public hs. California schools are so screwed up. Its budget cuts galore over here. I chose to go to my school even though i could afford private because it looks fun. Fun is not part of my schools vocabulary. What is part of the vocabulary is GHETTO! omg im pretty sure eighty percent of the students there are at a 3rd grade reading level. Oh well at least it makes me look better

^Really. I always thought that Cali had the best public system.

Thanks for the input!
I’m going to boarding school next year from a very well-off public school, and I am finding that half of my grade thinks I’m a freak.
meh. thats their problem when I am famous for inventing google or facebook or some new epic internet tool :)

I checked and saw that you’re headed to Exeter!

See you at the A/E games then. ;)

Well I’ve gone to a private school most of my life.

When I went to public school in sixth grade, the kids there automatically hated me and thought I was a rich snob. It took a LONG time for me to adjust… basically by the time I adjusted, it was the end of the year and I was headed back to private school.

I don’t remember second grade public school being so bad.

Other than that, I haven’t really had many experiences. People in my family kind of always thought I was ‘too good’ for them, but that’s kind of gone by the way-side seeing as how I’m the only one of my cousins who will be graduating high school. I had one graduate and the other two have dropped out and it’s looking more and more like my other two who are in 8th/9th grade will also be dropping out.

So yeah. I’d say don’t worry about it and just try to get along well in your new school. I have a friend who goes to Exeter. She likes it a lot. XD
