Private to public high school

I’m currently a Junior in high school. I’ve just undergone a major transition. I went to a college prep, private school in Chicago, but I just moved to Dallas and now attend a public school. I have a couple of concerns regarding the difference in aid and how applications are going to work.

I was in a lot of clubs in my old school and even the president of a couple. I’ve also organized a fundraiser to donate money to a local children’s hospital in Chicago and I have 250+ hours of healthcare and social justice centered service hours. That was all in Chicago. I just moved to Dallas and I’m still looking for the same volunteer opportunities to continue here. However, I’ve been unsuccessful and my new school doesn’t have many extra curricular activities. It’s also a two year process t create one so I don’t have the time to.

My involvement in Chicago is way better than my current one in Dallas and I’m really insecure about that.

How will the application process look like when I apply considering I went to two different schools?

How will it look to colleges seeing how involved I was at my old school and isn’t exactly equivalent to my involvement in Texas? Will it lower my chances of getting into the colleges I want? (Northwestern, Emory, Wake Forest, Butler, Rice, UPenn, Fordham, and NYU)

I wouldn’t worry about this. Since you are a junior, the fact that you already have some great extracurriculars that you were passionate about is more than enough. However, if you are looking to continue your extracurricular involvement in Texas, I think you could try thinking outside of the box. That’s my advice. Good luck!
