Pro/Con of Wake

Hey all,

I am trying to decide between Wake and Case Western. On the Case CC site there is a thread about the pros and cons and it really helped me. So can current students at Wake or really anyone tell me the pros and cons of wake?

Thanks!

Reputation, selectivity, athletic teams (spectatoring), and the ultimate issue in buying ... location, location, location! (Cleveland vs. Winston-Salem/Carolina  ... no need to expand upon that one, is there?) All are WFU

Case Western gets the nod for engineering.

So unless you wanna be a biomedical engineer, get a full ride scholarship from CWU, and have to commute from your folks' place in Chagrin Falls, this is a no brainer, imo. Nothing much close even.

Is there more to this story we should know?

Pros: Reputation (esp. Calloway), School Spirit (go DEACS!-especially when we beat DUKE!!!), Beautiful Weather (compared to Cleveland- massive difference), One on one attention with Professors (they care about freshmen just as much as upperclassmen -not the case everywhere), Regular renowed guest speakers ( ex. Hillary Clinton and Maya Angelou came last Friday!, I've also seen John Edwards and Sandra Day O'Connor since I've come here...)

Cons: Does not have an engineering program (but there is a biomedical engineering program joint Wake/VA tech for those interested). Focuses on Divisionals- can be abit annoying if you know what you want to do already, not too artsy but becoming more so.

For what it's worth: I'm a native of Winston-Salem and have long wondered why people from all over come to live in that boring city for four years there while attending Wake.
Then again, is Cleveland much better? (I've never been there.) Probably is, but it's gotta be cold as h*** there though.
My brother got a free ride at Wake years ago and he says that Wake is going downhill--I've heard other Wake alumni say so also.

case would be incredible. and if you're from the midwest, it will mean more to employers as wake is little known throughout the region.

Case is cool, and I realize that this is a mere beauty contest with beauty in the eye of the beholder, but ...

Having spent much time at both campuses, imho, this is like going to a dogfight vs. dinner in Hilton Head followed by a quick learjet jaunt for courtside tix to the Hornets-Spurs NBA finals. And oh, btw, does anyone know where the stars of each team went to school? These are 2 of the most spectacular players of our time, and 2 class acts! ;)

If one wants to be an injunear and work in Detroit or Perrysburg for Ford , Case is the place.:( These 2 places, both strong, are NOT in the same selectivity category, for whatever that means.

P.S. One more sports trivial quiz question: What current major league skipper grew up in Perrysburg ... and now lives in the #1 sports town in the nation?

all i'm saying, is case is in cleveland (cleveland > winston) and in the midwest, wake is little known. if you hope to work from DC up to Boston, or in the south, more will be aware of wake's reputation.

p.s. there's a facebook group titled something along the lines of "haven't heard of wake, that's ok - you couldn't have gotten in anyway"

backs up the name recognition issue.

It is obvious from reading your posts that you don't take rejection very well. Not everyone is Wake material. Time for you to move on.

rejection? i graduate in december, chief.

Early or late?

late b/c of hours lost due to my transfer. i will have completed 132 combined hours when i graduate. i'm not sure of the relevance, though...?
