well, it's been a while (3 months..?) since the time I last posted, but I got off proactiv, and got this different stuff from my dermo. but it like hardcore washes my skin off (it's sulfur based) and then their's some cream...good stuff > procativ

wash your face 2-3 times a day. corresponding with your meal times, always after the meal. try to eat no fast food, greasy, unhealthy things. i know it's hard. try to boost the amount of veggies and fruit. sleep as much as you can. exercise. if need be, see a doctor and get medicated cream.

do not use proactiv, murad, or any other quick fix cream. they don't work.

as far as acutane goes, it's dangerous and causes birth defects. i would recommend staying away from such drugs.

good luck

This girl that is in orchestra with me uses Proactiv, and her skin is really clear, and I was talking about it with her, and she said that it did dry out her skin and she had to start using a moisturizer in addition to the Proactiv.

My s tried everything....Proactiv, prescription topical cremes, etc. We found the best acne treatment that really cleared him up was a product called AcneFree by University Medical Company. I found it at Costco first, but have seen it since at Eckerd and Walgreens. It has time released benzoyl-peroxide and is stronger than Proactiv. Surprisingly, it didn't dry him out too much. I felt so strongly about its merits that I wrote the company and put a testimonial on their website. It cleared his face up in about 3-4 days; it was really impressive.

I really believe in this stuff and have tried to tell as many people about it as possible. Good luck with everything. I agree with the colegePLEASE, don't go the Accutane route if you can help it. It is a very, very intense drug.

I've used proactiv for a little over a year now, and I really like it. Before I tried proactiv nothing really worked for my skin, and if it did work it did so very slowly.

If you use it correctly I'm pretty sure you'll see great results. It's not really as big of a hassle as some people are making it out to be. All three steps take less than 5 minutes once you know what you're doing, and doing the steps in order isn't really hard to remember....

What i recommend if you choose to use proactiv is to buy the four-piece moisture system. Proactiv dried out my skin when i first used it --only a tiny bit-- but the lotion made it tons better.

Accutane can be dangerous, but it is effective. If you are on accutane the important thing is to be under constant watch with your dermatologist. That way if any of the negative side effects occured, you could catch it fast.

I actually don't know about the intensity of my acne because my dad had a serious acne problem as a teenager so when he found the first acne on my face, he just bought me those products and made me wash my face everyday with them. (5th grade)
Now (10th grade) my skin has almost no acne. I strongly reccommend Neutrogena's Clear Pore.

if youre a girl, try birth control pills.

I'm really curious about microdermabrasion actually.

I don't much get pimples anymore, but I do have a lot of acne scars and enlarged/visible pores on my cheeks, which makes my cheeks very red and rather inflamed. My dermatologist said I have rosacea. I think if the pores on my cheeks would shrink to normal size, that my cheeks would dry up and not be as red or puffy.

So if anyone really knows anything about the effectiveness of microdermabrasion (or if not the actual thing, OTC home kits for it), I'd really appreciate it... If it would help to reduce the appearance of acne scars and/or shrink my huge pores.

If you apply retin-A with GREAT moderation it works really well. The thing is, you can only get it with a prescription

I have had a huge fight with acne since 7th grade (currently in Junior year). I tried Proactiv for about a year and it did little, but the worse thing is that once you get off of it the acne will come back worse then it was before. I eventually went to dermatologist and got doxycyclein, a pill that I take two tines a day, and now I have little to no acne.

thats exactly what i got! my face is smooth as a babies butt.

just go to a dermatologist, at the end of the day if you really want to get of your acne it's the only way.

I used it, but my skin got really oily and irritated, so I don't use it anymore. My acne actually got better after I stopped using it, and now I get little to no acne. I think it really just depends on the person and their individual skin. Some people I've talked to said it didn't do anything for them, while others said it was working just fine.

i've been blessed with really good skin, no kidding, i get so many compliments because i don't have to wear foundation or anything like that to cover up acne. this is what i use:

body shop Vitamin E night cream for moisturizing
body shop Vit. E facial cream SPF 15
Burt's Bees Herbal Stick ( i think its called that) it stings, and smells bad, but it cleans up like no other , and it dries my zits and lets them heal when i occassionaly break out
and because i have sensitive skin i use Body Shop Aloe Vera Facial Cleanser. it unclogs your pores from all the makeup and crap in the air..

My friend uses Proactiv and she has really bad skin... it didn't do anything for her.
