Hey guys,
I’ve been lurking for a long time, never made an account to post, so here it goes.
I’m 16, in California, I was caught selling Marijuana at school, and my meeting is tomorrow where the school will decide if I will be expelled, or moved to a continuation school or what’s gonna happen to me.
What advice would you give a person in my shoes.
My plan was to take the CHSPE on June 20 to get the certificate and attend CC in September and then from there work hard to fix my mistake and hopefully TAG into UCSC or UCD since they both have Business Econ Majors which I am allowed to TAG in. I have no idea where to even begin with what classes to take at CC.
Thanks
First step would be to get your certificate first then worry about your CC classes. Any questions you have about classes to take at Community College will be answered by a councilor. Good luck!
Expulsion you can live with, but don’t sign anything that makes you admit to selling ___. Running from a bad high school record is a whole lot easier than forever having;#drug dealer# show up on future back ground checks.
And going the CC route seems like a very good idea.
I agree with greymouse. try to make a deal so that your drug dealing history does not stay as a permanent record.
I didn’t do well in h.s. dropped out of 4 year college and struggled for few years and after spending time in CC, I’m transfering to UC Davis with scholarship.
I would recommend CC route. >> Transfer. Since your grade will matter a lot when you go from CC to UC, you better buckle down and study. check out Rate my professor and pick good ones. and register early. bad professors will make you want to skip school and you don’t need that right now.
Major. - I’m a Econ major. but I’m changing to Computer Science. Econ is not a business degree. Econ is Econ… you are studying more of… how the country work… how to get in and out of recession and etc. It’s more close to Political Science ( how to use math to make sence of nation’s complex economy and adjust it ) then business.
If you want to be in Business…
Know business math - Applied Mathmathics, Fianance, Accounting.
Know how to sell - Marketing, PR, wrting.
Know how to manage, Mangement, HR, etc.
Know how to make stuff - engineering…
I’m simplyfing… but you get the idea… there is no all in one business degree. you need to pick your specialty.
Also I would urge you to research all the cool majors and how it relate to the fields you are tryiing to get in to.
so many people pick psychology, econ, as major… there might be some thing better for you out there.
http://guide.berkeley.edu/ <<< major lists.
Cognitive Science, Informatics, Industrial Deisgn, User Exerience Design, Applied Mathmathics… etc.
econ majors works in banking and fianace, business counslting… in general. if you don’t want to work in bank… or pursuit as academic side… i sugest you study what’s out there first.
