Probably N00by questions about Scholarships and Financial Aid

I’ve been awarded with a lot of financial aid, but since i’m not planning on dorming, there are some extra cash, so if the financial aid money exceeds what i need, do they give it to me anyways?

It’s probably too late to apply for scholarships, but should i apply for scholarships even though my financial aid is enough?

thanks

Probably depends on the school and how they calculate their COA (Cost Of Attendance). At my daughters school the COA is the same whether you live on or off campus unless you live with parents (in which case it is reduced and the financial aid would be reduced). Other schools vary in how they treat it - some the COA will be less for off campus - some it may be more. You need to check with your school. My daughters school any financial aid left over after all expenses are paid at the end of the 1st month of the semester are paid to her - so she will be able to pay her apartment rent with that money. Some schools may do it differently - again check with your school.

It probably is too late for most scholarships. But if you can find any to apply for why not. They will usually replace aid awarded by your school but generally replace loans or work study first.
