problem: letter not arrived & i'm leaving country

leaving the country in two days until the 5th Jan when i come back, but the official letter hasn't arrived yet with the instructions for the deposit. what else should i do apart from emailing the admin and telling them? (won't that take ages for a reply?) thanks!

to deposit isn't due until the 13th of Jan

but the website said:

If you're accepted at Cornell, you must withdraw any applications sent to other schools and send your acceptance deposit by January 6.

how do you send the deposit? by mail or wire

when u get the letter it says pay by jan 13th and they sat by check, money order, and they give u a special form tofill out

lihtfish, i'm havin the same problem...but u c Cornell sends its mails by ordinary Airmail unlike other univs which send it by FedEx or DHL...
i too was pretty darn tensed till i found it out...
since u live in Taiwan (am i right?) i guess it'll reach u in amother week or by the 3rd latest

haha whoa another week? i'm supertensed as well, cause i want to withdraw my other apps asap and not take up other people's spot.

what should i write on the cheque for 'attention to:'? i want to send it first before i leave for china. i know it's US$400, but don't know how to address the cheque.

address it to Cornell University and mail it to the undergraduate office processing center

Call them and explain your situation...

Lightfish, you get 15 days from when you receive your letter I'm pretty sure, so you should be fine sending it when you get back.

they won't be until january

wow cornell's stingy with the mailing.. thats extremely slow..

huahuahua i just called the admin office up and they had a voice message that said they'd only open up on Jan 3rd. that's too late. so i'm getting someone to courier the letter over to a shanghai relative's house.

they definitely said you have 15 days from when it arrives, which suggests that they don't actually care when you send it cuz they have no way of knowing when you got it.

I expected my letter to take forever to come cuz a lot of my friends applied to MIT, which doesn't let you know online cuz I guess they assume the site will definitley get hacked, and their letters took over a week to come even though we live in Boston. But for me, the letter was sent on thursday and i got it on saturday, cheapass snail mail and all. But i didn;t really care cuz I knew what the letter was going to say as of 5:03 on thursday.
