My husband’s been trying to submit the Fafsa for our D’s senior year for about the last two weeks. Every time he hits ‘submit’ he gets a message that it’s been saved but not submitted. He’s on a recommended browser. He has tried it on other recommended browsers. He tried on my laptop. No luck. Anyone else have this problem?
Did both you and your student sign using your FSA ID?
Thanks. Let me ask H.
That would be two different FSA IDs…
One for the student and another one for the parent…not the same one for both parent and student.
Also, in the past, if the parents have filed a joint return, I think the first named on the tax return had to be the one getting the FSA ID? That may have only been an issue when trying to get the FSA ID but I just remember it as a problem.
Thanks. My H is going to call the help line tomorrow.
Still won’t submit. Every time we hit “submit” it says that it has been saved. We used the DRT for the first time this year. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
@kelsmom Any ideas?
Plus, I just found out that the school has to receive it from the processor by April 30!. Grrrr. We have always done it early. Life got in the way this year.
Try without the DRT? Clear everything out and start again?
Fixed it. H and I have an LLC in which we are equal partners. Thus, on tax filing we each have exact same earnings (total LLC earnings divided by two). Fafsa doesn’t like that. It thinks it’s a mistake. H changed one income by $1.00. Voilà. So aggravating. When we asked it to search for errors it did not flag this. The only hint that there was something it didn’t like was that it failed to submit.
