Problem with GPA?

PROBLEM WITH TRANSCRIPT GPA

So I'm currently in 11th grade and I asked my guidance counselor who is new to my high school due to the school district budget issue about seeing my transcript. On there my GPA was a 3.6 which is weird because there should be a hundredth digit am I right? I had a 3.7 after 9th grade and then my cumulative GPA went down to a 3.6 in 10th? From my online grading system, I calculated that I got a 3.625 (3.7x3 +3.6) at least in 10th grade. So the average of 9th + 10th would be a 3.6625 and not a 3.6. Is it normal for the transcript to say that since it's not complete? I currently have a 3.9 (just 1st term0 in 11th grade but it doesn't show up until my whole year is over. I am EXTREMELY worried because my GPA should be in the upper half of 3.6 and close to 3.7, the transcript said my number grade is 89.6, and in 9th grade it was 90.3 which was a 3.7...so yeah. I asked my guidance counselor but she's clueless too. Can anyone help me with this? What's wrong with the grading system and my transcript? I'll talk to my principal who is also new but I knew her since middle school soon.

The system must be set to always drop the hundredths digit. That’s weird.

Yea, my friend’s GPA is 3.5 which also doesn’t have the hundredth digit. I hope it shows up in 12th grade? But that’ll be too late, I gotta talk to my principal…

Ok so bump.
My principal said 3.60 is my cumulative GPA for 9th and 10th, there’s nothing wrong because it’s computerized…

And I asked a few of my friends and only 1 out of 4 of them had GPAs of 3.x0, and the other 3 had like 3.76, 3.74, so I guess mine is 3.60?

But the weird thing is, my total grade in 10th grade was only 2 Bs (both middle Bs) in main classes, and rest are As with choir (mandatory) and gym at B (85), and that averaging out with my 9th grade’s 3.70 GPA, equals to a 3.60?

I kept telling my principal that I had a 90.3 in 9th grade and it was 3.70, but a 89.6 after 10th grade is a 3.60? It seemed like she was too busy to help me, she said to just wait until I’m done with 11th grade…

BUT the good thing is, there is a number grade on my transcript so colleges will look at that more, and I hope they also look at my GRADES, I don’t have ANY Cs (year total), only mostly As and a few Bs, this GPA thing is ****ing me off.

So I really feel depressed right now because a 3.6 is not okay, but a 89.6 should be almost a 3.7…
I didn’t take AP in 10th or 9th (not possible), so it should be UW…

But do you think I should just leave it alone? I think there’s a glitch but my principal say it’s not, what should I do about it?

Wait until it matters, after 11th grade is over.

Yea true, but I don’t want it to be too late…It seems like I’m getting a 3.8 to 3.9 UW in 11th grade, and if I come out a 3.6 UW cumulative…I’ll be ****ed.

If it matters to you that much, go talk to your counselor and point out how there has to be a glitch since 89.6 should be between 3.6 and 3.7 at the very least, and how the “glitch” “ate” your second numerical and how due to the fact you’re going to apply to some seriously selective schools due to being restricted to 100% need schools and needing full rides everywhere. Even Penn state or West Chester wouldn’t be affordable with how little your mother makes so you have to keep on top of everything as soon as it pops up.
be polite & sweet (you’re asking for a favor at a very busy time for them) but insistent nevertheless.
If necessary, would your mother get involved?

However, a 3.6 UW is not the end of the world. Plenty of good schools accross the country would accept you with that, like Gettysburg, Rhodes, St Olaf, etc.

Well I’m going to go through QuestBridge to apply so I’m still aiming for Ivy League or something close to that…

Well it does matter to me, but I’ve already talked to my counselor calmly and she said it’s computerized so there can’t be a glitch. I also asked her if she could compare my grade to someone similar to mine, but she wouldn’t do that…

I don’t know if it’ll hurt me… But that GPA in after 10th grade only, not counting 11th, so I’m definitely going to AT Least have a 3.7 UW after 11th grade because I’m getting 3.9 UW GPA 1st term in 11th grade, and at least 3.8 after that.

LOl, because we all know computers can’t have glitches :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:
That’s the most hilarious thing I’ve heard all day!
Well, of course, there’s the saying: computers don’t make mistakes - humans do. :)

yea it’s so weird… point 7 drop in number grade yet .1 gpa drop? I’m going to ask the counselor again and I might even tell my mother to come with me, but I don’t know if that would help.

Is the 3 from taking 3 classes or are there 3 trimesters or what?

If you have the transcript, can you recalculate the whole thing, class by class?

MYOS, what do you think I should do? I don’t think the principal or counselor will do anything and just change it because it’s computerized. At least I need an explanation…
