I'm uploading my personal statement and I'm getting the message "uploaded successfully". However, when I hit "view document" a blank screen comes up. What's going wrong? It's in .doc (and I tried it in .rtf) and it's way less than 100KB, much less 500.

I’ve seen this issue before, and the last person was using Word on a Mac, which defaulted to a odd font. I would try changing your font to something common - like Times New Roman - and uploading your doc again.

Let me know if that doesn’t work. Cheers!

It doesn’t work.

Mac or PC? What version of Word are you using? Also, what browser are you using?

I’m using a PC with Windows Vista Home Premium. I am using Microsoft Office 2007. I am using Chrome right now but I use IE8 to access the common app.

I would try uploading a regular .docx file and see if that works. If it doesn’t, I would contact support. They can definitely fix this sort of thing.

.docx, .pdf, and .rtf don’t work :-(

I did contact text support. Let’s see what they say.

EDIT: Haha! Tech support…

I gave up on the Common App for this very reason. What a PITA. I ended up doing all of my applications directly through the colleges own applications.
