Anyone else had problems submitting your payment for the MIT application? I've tried on several occasions but have been unable to submit the payment. Emailed the admissions office but have yet to hear from them. Just keeps saying that there has been a problem with submission of payment.

Since it’s getting near January 1, I suggest you call the admissions office on Monday.

If you can’t get the online payment form to work, you could also send a check by mail.

I can’t find a working number for the admissions office, but if I can’t get my payment to work I will have to mail my entire application and payment. Rather stressful and aggravating situation, considering I have not heard from MIT or been able to get through by phone.

Any chance you could try another credit card?

Yes, I have tried other credit cards, with the same result. Guess I’ll just mail my application tomorrow.

Preferred options (relative to mailing the application with a check) would be:
- emailing about the problem to applicationpart1@mit.edu/email; or
- calling Admissions: 617-253-3400 (available before we close for the holidays, Wednesday at 5pm).

I have yet to get through to the admissions office using that number, I just get a recorded message saying that I cannot reach the number as entered. Not sure what’s wrong there.

Thanks for the help, I just emailed them at the given email address.

Snyder -

That number works fine for me (I just tried it and was connected to our smiling office staff). However, your email will suffice, and I’m seeing your email in the appropriate inbox right now, so you’re all set!

Got it worked out! I was able to reach the admissions office and figured out what was going on. For anyone else suffering from this problem it was because MIT was having problems with Discover cards (I tried my mom and dad’s discover card’s to submit the payment). Worked fine when I used a Visa. Application submitted! Phew!

Thank you so much for this post. I have been having a similar problem for weeks and likewise using a Discover card. I felt so obliged to express my gratitude that I actually decided to make a CC account just to thank you. =)
Happy New Year!
