Hey, I’m a 12th class student and i have a dream to take admission in MIT. I’m intrested in doing mechatronics from MIT. Does it have the same ?As an international student what are the prodedure and ol everything. Please consider me as if i don’t know anything about taking admission in any of the international universities. Please tell me what to do ? what will happen? and how to make it happen? From A-Z
Why don’t you google MIT admissions for international students?
You are not giving any of us confidence to this point…
Yes, please read MIT’s admissions blogs and articles before asking all of us (speaking as a current MIT student…). You should do some research and plan ahead before applying.
In short, you will have to take the required standardized tests and submit your application, transcripts, and two letters of recommendation (all of these are outlined on MIT’s admission websites). Furthermore, English proficiency is a must, which I don’t see a whole lot of here, so I suggest also practicing improving your fluency.
Yes, I respect your comment but still i need someone who can guide me in this case. I don’t know about the tests which will be conducted nd all other recommendations
You need to contact the international admissions office at MIT. They will answer all of your questions.
@shubham1997 All of it is spelled out here:
http://mitadmissions.org/apply/freshman/dates
Most of the requirements for US students is the same as for internationals, although I don’t know much about the interview process internationally.
I mostly agree with @happymomof1, but do not ask admissions questions that can easily be looked up online (e.g. minimum TOEFL score).
(MIT admits very, very, very few international students: [Last year, only 119 were admitted out of 3,940 applicants](Admissions statistics | MIT Admissions). That’s 3% or so. Yowza!)
Don’t take it offensively, but no one is going to hold your hand and guide you through the admissions process.
There’s a magic thing on the Internet, an extremely valuable and ancient source of wisdom. It’s called Google. Use it.
Okay thanks for telling me this much… I’ll use this so called “Google” for further queries… Thank you.
You might contact Education USA for your country or region. First you can read their pages to gain some basic information. No one here should have to write a book for you on college admissions as such already exists in book form and on the internet. Also every college has an admissions website with requirements and suggestions.
Have you taken the TOEFL test and what was your score. As mentioned your English skills would need to be strong.
shubham: if people haven’t been jumping up and down to provide you the answers you need, you have to understand something. You say you want to get into MIT as an international applicant. That implies a certain level of sophistication and ability to use technology. It would be like your saying you wish to be a player for Real Madrid Football Club – but are asking directions on how to tie up your shoes from strangers. Like BrownParent said: no one is going to write a book for you. If you can’t look up the readily available and posted information, then you really should not be looking at top US colleges.
Well @t26e4 MIT is also encouraging people like Shubham by taking mediocre applicants with a 1710 SAT from India and these applicants have no extraordinary quality and exaggerate their circumstances, TOI wrote an article about a guy who was recently accepted from my city which he described as “rural” while it is nowhere near that in fact we are known as the manchester of India. He had a 1710, was below the recommended line of the TOEFL, was nowhere near intelligent enough, he even wrote a line saying “none of my parents” like he had 3 or 4 I just read the article and said this is complete bull, his essays maybe Pulitzer worthy where he wrote about not himself but his ancestors fishing like are you serious right now, he has a father in a govt. job and everyone in India knows if you are on a public service 90% of your earning is off the books aka bribes. I know I did not deserve MIT but some of my delhi friends with 2360 and 13 AP’s self studied did, I mean those guys were NTSE scholars national Olympiad winners WTH MIT. @brownparent @darkeclipse @MITer94
Oh and one more thing this guy started speaking english in high school apparently @t26e4 @brownparent @darkeclipse @MITer94
@Bored1997 Who knows? Maybe the adcom members were drunk. Maybe his GPA was great. Maybe his ECs were decent. I don’t know or care about what goes down in the admission committee at MIT. Like, seriously, it’s not even worth wasting your time worrying, you either get in or you don’t. Period.
EC’s =0 because he attended a govt school and was prepping for IIT. IIT coaching is 6 hrs a day after 6 hrs of school so easily no chance for EC’s, GPA might be good but the only real exam in India is ICSE in which he had 85% as opposed to my 96% and I am not even the most intelligent in my school @darkeclipse
@Bored1997
Chill, ok? You didn’t get in; neither did I. I’m sure there were less qualified people than me that got in - but I’m also sure there were a lot of higher qualifying people than me who got in. We don’t know everybodies circumstances - there was obviously something that this kid did that MIT liked. Scores are only one small thing in MITs application review.
@arandomgeek I am actually laughing not serious at all, anything related to admissions has now become impervious to my mind
@arandomgeek it is a great real life story for a laugh though you have to agree
