Procrastination Station

so where is everyone applying to aside from penn? list however many you want to.

Ill go first.

Stanford, Georgetown, Dartmouth, Tufts, Columbia, Northwestern and like 6 others.

i didn't even apply to Stanford...
I was going to,, but I kinda forgot that it was due 12/15...and on the day it was due, my friend was like...
"OMG! the Stanford apps are due TODAY!!"

I'm like...

"WHAT!??????????????????????"

and we were freaking out together.... lol
and we both didn't turn it in...sigh

U of Maryland, American, Penn State (accepted), Wake Forest, and U of Maryland, Baltimore county (accepted + scholarship)

As yuo can see, Penn is my only reach

yea that happened to a few of my friends.

whyd you only apply to upenn? shouldve done atleast a few others.

never hurts to just apply.

yea. their essays were painful. If it wasn't for that, I could've turned it in.. but watever.. no regrets.

yea seriously. you should apply;) few more reaches are fun.

Yea they sucked, but ive used atleast one of them on like 7 or 8 of my apps.

stanford (REJECTED!!!), harvard with legacy, yale, princeton, Duke, Dartmouth, Cornell, MIT, Northwestern, Columbia, aaaaaaand UPenn

need help with UPenn essays. Any takers? I just don't know what to write for WHY penn?

Bob, paying for college is going to be a bit of a struggle. I fall in that LOVELY upper middle class group where the government says that my parents can afford to pay about 25% of their annual income for my college education. That's COOL

I know I'll get scholarships at most of those other places though.

Did you know that there was a study done comparing people who got accepted into ivies but decided not to go, for whatever reason, to those who went to ivies. In the long run, those who decided not to go were more financially successful on average.

The theory is that some people get caught up in their Ivy-status and never really work hard, whereas those with potential who went to lower rung schools know they have quite a bit to work against

nimxnooj is applying to lots of ivies o_o

Eckie, my sister is now in her last year at UMBC. She says it's a good experience.. but probably not the best haha. Apparently they have great a computer science program or something like that.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=132935

there's the link to my numbers and stuff

looking at other people's ranks, i guess i just go to a really big school. 4200 student public school. crowded like a mother...

KRabble, haha, I'm literally 5 minutes from the campus. They DO have a good computer..things program (I want to do poli sci) and word on the street is the campus dies come weekends. I have a friend there who IM'd me last month, specifically saying, 'DO NOT COME HERE'

that i am happygal, juss throwin em all out there hopin one'll take me. x)

Heh, ok, here goes:

Reaches: Stanford (deferred), Yale and Princeton, as of today, because my parents decided I need more Ivies, even though I don't like any Ivies except Penn, and MIT.

Matches: Duke, WashU, and Chicago.

Safeties: NYU, USC(which I actually love), CMU, and UGA.

Duke is his match. Oy vey.

nim...got a lot of safeties there.

eckie. yea i understand but a lot of good schools are pretty generous with aid (princeton comes to mind).

idk, my theory is that if you get into an ivy, you find a way to pay for that ivy.

Eckie,

Yeah, my sister actually pretty much hates it at UMBC lol.. I didn't want to say it at first, but since your friend already told you, I might as well have!

Colleges: UPenn (deferred), Cornell, Johns Hopkins, UVa, Carnegie Mellon, Vanderbilt, Lehigh, UMich, Northwestern

can anybody tell me my chances? (look above for link)
