professor help

well this quarter, im lookin at taking chem20a, math 32a, and iranian (either 1a or 20a). i have some questions

who’s a good professor for chem 20a? at the moment, scheduling isnt looking to good for me to take honors. it depends on wat iranian class i end up in. neways, i have a choice between scerri and neuhauser.

math 32a has alotta choices. teran, schul, chayes (who i hear sucks), duke, liu. i was thinking most likely duke. i took calculus 1 and 2 at a community college with A’s both times.

iranian. it says 1a is not open to students with prior knowledge of the persian language. how strongly is this enforced?

thanks in advance ppl!!! im premed, currently a biochem major, but juggling my options at a traditional LS route.

scerri.

i had schul and it made 32a one of the easiest classes i've taken so far.

specifically for schul, he wasn't necessarily a great teacher, but really nice.

check bruinwalk.com for more reviews.

does anybody know anything about duke?

scerri 10char

which is better?

ruiz for hist2c

or

phillips for hist1a?

i had duke for 32a. i liked him, though he's not exactly a stimulating speaker or anything. there're probably better teachers, but he's not bad.

was he easy?

i don't know about easy, but he wasn't difficult...but 32A isn't difficult in general. average for the midterms were ~68, 56 for the final. the homework is graded though.

Why not take Iranian 20A? That's the one for people with some prior knowledge.

i think the median scores for our midterms for math32a were really high..lol

i kinda forget though..seems like ages ago

i thot iranian 1a would be a cake walk :D

If you're only taking 3 classes, you don't need a "cake walk." Why not take the class you might learn something in and not be totally bored? Learning = the goal of college.

I think you would be wasting your money and the teacher's time to take a class where you already know the material. Language professors can find out pretty quickly who does and doesn't have prior knowledge of the language, BTW. Things like native accent and ease of speaking are hard to disguise.

how do you take placement tests for languages not offered during orientation? Do you contact the language department when school starts?

try looking at the dept website for any info.

you know, don't worry about whether or not he's easy or whatever. If you're diligent and put in the adequate amount of work and dedication, grades are easily attainable. That's going to be the tough thing to get into your head starting out, just gotta tough it out and stay in that one extra night while the peeps be partying. And don't sell yourself short, everybody can do work, and they'll get paid.

anybody ever have lin for chemistry? im thinkin of doing chem 20AH with him.

also, for math 32a, im between teran, duke, and schul. i donno anything about teran (and hes not on bruinwalk) and i hear decent things abotu the other two.
