I am taking an online class and that is being mentored by a PhD student and I have not received a single grade for the class, neither have any other students. With only a couple of weeks left I am getting very worried. He keeps telling us that grades are coming or making excuses and I have even politely emailed him once. This has gone beyond ridiculous. I turned in my paper for the class in January and I still haven't received a grade or any feedback plus all the other stuff that was assigned.

Should I email the main instructor?

He seems alright and I understand that grading takes time, but I don't want to be slapped with an unfair grade at the end of the semester.

I’m not sure there’s any rule that says that professors have to post grades at all on Blackboard. I’ve had a couple professors that didn’t use Blackboard at all.

Since it’s an online class however, and you aren’t going to be getting any physical assignments back (such as exams) I would probably email the head instructor and mention that you don’t have any grades in the system yet and are getting concerned.

It’s also possible for the grades to be posted but “hidden” from view. I know a couple of my professors have done that before, where they would mention “oh hey, this got graded and is posted” and then when everyone checked, it wasn’t, and they hadn’t made the grades visible to students on accident. I mention this just in case it’s happened.

I would though ask the main instructor. It probably can’t hurt.
