Professor Recommendations

Are there any other sophomore transfer applicants here having trouble getting a rec? I'm currently a freshman now and all my classes are lectured base. So its difficult to find a prof. that knows you and what not. Even if you do find someone, being at the school for less than 1 yr doesnt help.

Does anyone know how much emphasis the adcom places on these recs for sophomore transfers?

well i believe that prof recs are very important for transfer applicants.

It's really not that big of a deal, just go in during your prof's office hours and ask them.
If they don't know you very well, they may ask you to write them an email telling them about your career aspirations. At least that's all I had to do.

alright, i finally got my prof. to write the rec for me.

He doesn't know me at all and in fact, it's really the second time I've spoken with him. I let him know of my intentions of transferring. And he said he'll do it for me.

But what if he can't write all that much about me? At least I have one of my H.S. teacher writing it. I'm sure its a really good rec. So would that in some ways compensate? Like I said, it IS my freshman year, I've been at the school for less than a year.

yeah don't worry about it. I read it wrong the first time around. I thought you were a 2nd year undergrad.

I think if you make your essays really good... you'll compensate for the recs.
