Profiles of students accepted to NYU Stern BPE

Hi everyone,
I'm a current junior and very interestsed in Stern's BPE program. I am interested to see the profiles of students who were accepted since the program's inception to get an idea of what BPE is looking for in potential students.

If you were accepted and you are willing to give your GPA, SAT, rank, ec's, etc... that would be a big service to me and fellow readers!

Also - if you have the time I would love to hear what you think of the program (especially what NYU London is like)

Thank you!!!

I’d also like it if someone adds how much they pay for stern and their financial situation, i’m looking to apply there next year

hey SuePerHughManHi5. im glad you’re considering BPE.

my high school average was a 95/100 (at a specialized high school, with APs unweighted) and my SAT score was a 2340. i took AP euro, us history, us gov, comp gov, macro, micro, bc calc, stats, and french. i also did a social science intel research project. my extra-currics included theater and school newspaper and i’ve had jobs/internships every summer since the summer between my freshman and sophomore years.

im currently a sophomore and i can’t fully express how much i love the program. while the rest of our sternie friends are sitting in the sterile white rooms of tisch hall crunching numbers, we are experiencing an entirely new culture in london, taking BPE-tailored politics and economics courses, and traveling europe.

the kids in BPE are some of the most passionate, ambitious, well-rounded kids i know. every single student in the program is completely in love with their major and isn’t just in it for the money, like a lot of finance majors are. many kids were worried about staying in BPE because it wouldn’t give them that little line on their resumes that says “B.S. in Finance”. so a lot of people ended up dropping out of the program and pursuing a finance major instead. i say it’s their loss. i can take the exact same classes as finance majors, list them on the “relevant coursework” section of my resume, and be just as qualified as any other sternie for an i-banking job or whatever it is i decide to do.

NYU London is very different from washington square. we have each class only once a week for 3 hours (with a small break in the middle). the professors are usually lecturers from other london universities such as UCL, LSE, and City University, and there are no TAs, recitations, or regular homework assignments. so you really have to study hard on your own and pace yourself.

outside of class, london is amazing. NYU offers a bunch of free or low-cost trips within london and to other UK cities like bath and oxford. you’re also a short ryanair/easyjet flight away from europe. so i pretty much go somewhere new every weekend. NYU recently took BPE kids on an all-expenses-paid weekend trip to brussels to see the european parliament and european commission.

anyway, i’m ranting. point is: if you’re interested in business and poli sci, want to see the world, and want take classes you love with smart, like-minded people, BPE is the program for you.

hope i helped! best of luck with your application!
